CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTING ALLIANCE 11 AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/21/2013 1:59 PM

The Championship Fighting Alliance will make its debut this Friday Night on AXS TV and it does so with a headliner between Mike Kyle and Travis Wiuff. The media will seemingly care more about the semi-main event as transgender fighter Fallon Fox faces Allana Jones. Also, the card is loaded with many other fights, including a pair of former Bellator fighters in action.

Kicking of the event is a light heavyweight division fight as Oscar “Diamond Boy” Delgado (6-2-0) competes against Mike King (5-0-0). Delgado has won three of four in CFA competition, with that lone loss coming to Ariel Gandulla at CFA IV. King is an undefeated fighter who has yet to see any of his five career fights go to the judges scorecard. King has been a dominant fighter thus far in his MMA career and that dominance will continue as he remains undefeated after Friday Night.

Flyweight fighters will enter the cage next as Czar Sklavos (7-2-0) is in the cage against Alexis “The Exorcist” Vila (11-3-0). Sklavos has not competed in an MMA fight in nearly a full year, but has competed against UFC veteran TJ Dillashaw. Vila will enter the fight on a three fight losing streak, but did pull one of the biggest upsets in Bellator history when he defeated Joe Warren at Bellator 51. The long layoff is going to affect Sklavos badly in this one as Vila gets the win and ends his losing streak.

A pair of featherweights will be in action next as Elvin “El Bandido” Brito (6-1-0) does battle with Sean Soriano (7-0-0). Brito will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak, which includes a victory over Bellator veteran Patrick Cenoble. Soriano is currently undefeated in CFA competition, having defeated both Matthew Perry and Victor Delgado. These are two top notch fighters who are on amazing runs right now, but it will be Soriano remaining undefeated in the end.

We move to the lightweight division for the next fight as Luis “Baboon” Palomino (20-8-0) faces Robert “The Beast” Washington (15-7-0-1NC). Palomino is a Bellator veteran who has competed four times in the CFA promotion, with notable victories over Gesias Cavalcante and Charles Bennett. Washington has won three of his last four fights, plus has competed against UFC veterans Rich Clementi and Hermes Franca. These are two of the more experienced fighters competing on the card, but it will be Palomino keeping his recent streak going.

Up next is a women’s featherweight tournament semi-final fight as Fallon “The Queen Of Swords” Fox (2-0-0) battles Allanna “Hands Of Stone” Jones (2-1-0). Fox found herself competing in the tournament semi-finals when she defeated Ericka Newsome at CFA X. Jones punched her ticket to the tournament’s second round when she defeated Kelsey Da Santis at CFA X. This will be the fight that garners the most attention of the entire card, but it will be Fox advancing to the finals.

Headlining this card is a light heavyweight division clash as Mike “MAK” Kyle (19-9-1-2NC) takes on Travis “Diesel” Wiuff (68-17-0-1NC). Kyle will be competing for the first time since Strikeforce closed, he last suffered a defeat to Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. Wiuff will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak, but did make it to the finals of the 2012 Bellator Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament. These are two competitors who are in a desperate situation in their careers and it will be Kyle picking up the much needed victory.
