Bellator Lightweight Title top contender Dave Jansen has suffered an injury and is off the Bellator 96 card, champion Michael Chandler will now defend the gold against David Rickels at Bellator 97. Chandler has successfully defended the gold once already, defeating Rick Hawn by submission at Bellator 85. Rickels earned the title shot after winning the season eight lightweight tournament, defeating Saad Awad in the finals. Bellator 97 takes place on July 31st from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with Ben Askren and Andrey Koreshkov headlining.
