Rob Conway and Chase Stevens address The Gathering of the Champions

The summer of wrestling starts in Nashville on Friday night at NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling with the Gathering of Champions.

With both the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA National Heavyweight Championship on the line, the Gathering of Champions will showcase some of the best wrestlers in the world on Friday night in Millersville, Tennessee.

The NWA World Heavyweight champion, “The Ironman” Rob Conway, will be meeting for the first time Chase Stevens.  Stevens, who is a former multi-time NWA title holder with the NWA Tag Team Championships, Stevens has yet to taste NWA World gold.

“Tennessee is a great place to wrestle, that’s where I got my start in the NWA,” Conway said in an video released this week.  “I have worked long and hard to get this NWA World Championship, and I don’t intend on losing it anytime soon.”

When addressing Stevens, Conway commented on how Chase is a great wrestler, however, Conway does not intend on making it an easy night for Stevens.

“My plan is this, I’m going to walk in the champion and I’m going to walk out the champion,” said Conway.  See in the NWA it’s simple: in order to be the man, you gotta beat the Iron Man.  And June 14th is not your night.  The Iron Man will once again rule with an iron fist.”

But in true Chase Stevens fashion, the former three time NWA World Tag Team Champion addressed Conway in front of the SAW Mill audience after defeating Chris Michaels in one of the bloodiest battles seen at the Millersville arena to as the NWA Television Champion.

“Seventeen years I have worked my ass off to be a professional wrestler,” Stevens said Friday night. “That’s not an easy road.  Three time world tag team champion, June 14th, this is where I prove that in my own heart that I belong in professional wrestling.  This is where I put my name on the map.”

“Rob Conway, you call yourself a world champion, well I have met world champions! I’ve sat to Ric Flair, I’ve been critiqued by Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, I’ve been trained by Harley Race,” Stevens continued.  “If you are the world champion today; then you are the man with the money sign on your chest and you’re the man I am after.  June 14th this is the beginning, and the only way to go up from here is to beat you. And that’s what I am going to do on June 14th.”

“The Ironman” Rob Conway will face off against “The Natural” Chase Stevens on Friday, June 14, 2013, at NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling at the SAW Mill at 1214B Louisville Highway in Millersville, Tennessee.  Doors open at 6:45 p.m. with bell time at 8:00 p.m.
