A hand injury has caused Doug Marshall to pull out of a middleweight title bout against Alexander Shlemenko at Bellator 98, replacing him will be Brett Cooper. Shlemenko will be making the first defense of the belt, which he won by defeating Maiquel Falcao at Bellator 88. Cooper made it to the finals of the season eight middleweight tournament, losing to the injured Marshall in the finals. Bellator 98 takes place on September 7th from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with the aforementioned fighters headlining.
