UFC veteran Cheick Kongo has signed a multi-fight deal with the Bellator Fighting Championships and will be competing in this season’s heavyweight tournament. During his very long tenure with the UFC, Kongo amassed a record of 11-6-1, with his biggest win coming over Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 75. Kongo left the UFC after a loss to Roy Nelson at UFC 159, the UFC simply opted not to sign him to a new contract after the old one expired. There are no other participants announced for the season nine heavyweight tournament, although the list is expected to be released shortly.
