Former UFC and Strikeforce veteran Lavar Johnson has signed a multi-fight deal with the Bellator Fighting Championships. Johnson won two of four while in the UFC, most notably defeating Pat Barry by knockout at UFC On Fox III. Johnson was released after a loss to Brendan Schaub at UFC 157 and then a failed post-fight drug test played into the release as well. Johnson is expected to compete in the season nine heavyweight tournament, which also features UFC veteran Cheick Kongo.
