FIGHT NETWORK AIRING BAMMA AND MORE MMA THIS WEEKEND

Fight Network Airs K-1 MAX Final 16 LIVE, Plus BAMMA 13 & Cage Warriors 59 this Saturday, Sept. 14
 
Toronto – Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, will wrap up a stacked week of live events this Saturday, Sept. 14, with a live broadcast of the K-1 World MAX 2013 Final 16 from Mallorca, Spain, at 4:30 p.m. ET. Immediately following the live kickboxing spectacle, Fight Network will air back-to-back same-day tape-delay broadcasts of BAMMA 13 from Birmingham, U.K., and Cage Warriors 59 from Cardiff, Wales.
 
That’s three blockbuster cards on the same day, preceded by an encore presentation of Golden Boy Promotions featuring Shawn Porter vs. Julio Diaz 2 from Thursday night, repeating Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. ET and Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. ET, and followed by an encore presentation of ONE FC: Champions & Warriors from Friday morning, repeating on Sept. 14 at Midnight ET.
 
The live broadcasts of K-1 World MAX 2013 Final 16 and Cage Warriors 59 will also be broadcast internationally as part of Fight Network’s expansion on ZON in Portugal, D-Smart in Turkey, and ZAP in Angola and Mozambique.
 
Sixteen of the world’s finest 70 kg fighters will descend upon the beautiful island of Mallorca in Spain for the K-1 World MAX 2013 Final 16. The K-1 World MAX Final 16 has a rich history, serving as the official opening round of the K-1 World MAX tournament. This year K-1 brings a strong line-up, a mix of established stars with some newer, up-and-coming talent.

This year’s K-1 World MAX tournament will help to reinvigorate the K-1 MAX division with the healthy injection of new talent, with fighters like Canada’s Shane Campbell, America’s Joey Pagliuso, Germany’s Enriko Kehl, Spain’s Maximo Suarez and more. After much deliberation, K-1 is proud to present the tournament draws for the Final 16, featuring eight compelling matchups that are bound to bring some explosive action to Mallorca.

The main event of the evening will see two K-1 mainstays in Andy Souwer and Yasuhiro Kido square off for the very first time in a showdown between the Netherlands and Japan. One of the other feature fights of the evening will be Thailand’s Buakaw Banchamek making his long-awaited return to the K-1 ring against Spain’s David Calvo, Calvo coming off of an impressive tournament victory in Portugal to earn his spot in the tournament.

Fight Network’s own John Ramdeen will be on the scene calling the live action.

-Henri Van Opstal (NLD) vs. Enriko Kehl (DEU)
-Mike Zambidis (GRC) vs. Elam Ngor (ESP)

Meanwhile, BAMMA 13, which is slated to begin at approximately 8 p.m. ET, features a championship tripleheader from Birmingham, U.K., headlined by undefeated sensation Max Nunes vs. Jason Jones for the light heavyweight title, plus Jim Wallhead meets Eddy Ellis for the welterweight title and Curt Warburton throws down with Mansour Barnaoui for the lightweight crown. Rounding out the main card, Colin Fletcher makes his BAMMA return against Tim Newman in a lightweight clash.

-Curt Warburton vs. Mansour Barnaoui (lightweight title)

Finally, Cage Warriors 59, which is slated to begin at approximately 10 p.m. ET, will play host to a championship doubleheader from the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales. In the main event, Jim Alers puts his featherweight title on the line against Sweden’s Martin Svensson, plus the four-man single-night bantamweight tournament will showcase James Pennington, Kris Edwards, David Haggstrom and Brett Johns vying for the organization’s inaugural 135-pound championship.
