Fight #1 – Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Saad Awad (14-5-0) vs. Martin Stapleton (12-1-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Awad nailing Stapleton with a kick to the midsection, Awad then briefly drops Stapleton with a right. Stapleton recovers by forcing Awad up against the cage wall, Stapleton then scores a takedown on Awad and he gets the full guard. Awad uses his feet to create space and get himself on top of Stapleton, Awad quickly gains the full mount on Stapleton before getting back control. Awad quickly begins to attack Stapleton with some ground and pound, Awad locks in the rear naked choke and a tap out follows.

Fight Result: Saad Awad def. Martin Stapleton by submission via rear naked choke (3:46, R1)

Fight #2 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Josh Alessio (34-16-0-1NC) vs. Will Brooks (10-1-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Brooks attacking Alessio with some leg kicks, Brooks also attempts a head kick on Alessio that gets blocked. Alessio grabs a hold of Brooks before attacking him with several lefts, Brooks then cracks a ducking Alessio with a head kick. Brooks follows that up by cracking Alessio with a step in knee strike, Alessio then scores a takedown on Brooks and he gets side control. Brooks scrambles to get the fight standing again, Brooks hits Alessio with a side kick after they break apart. Brooks gets the takedown after avoiding a jump guillotine from Alessio, Brooks starts to attack Alessio with some ground and pound. Alessio scrambles to get the fight standing once again, Brooks quickly puts him back on the ground and he gets the half guard as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Brooks going right back to the leg kicks on Alessio, Brooks then attacks Alessio with a kick to the rib cage. Alessio recovers by forcing Brooks up against the cage wall, Brooks scores a takedown on Alessio and winds up on top of him after a short scramble. Alessio uses the cage walk to get the fight standing again, Alessio charges at Brooks while throwing plenty of strikes. Brooks scores a takedown on Alessio and he almost gets caught in a guillotine choke, the referee stands up the fighters after inactivity and Alessio briefly drops Brooks with a right. Alessio forces Brooks up against the cage wall while eating knee strikes, Brooks then scores a takedown on Alessio and he gets the full mount. Brooks then transitions to back control on Alessio, Brooks pounds away on Alessio as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Alessio attacking Brooks with a front kick, Brooks then gets the takedown on Alessio and he gets the full guard. Brooks begins to attack Alessio with some ground and pound, Brooks transitions to side control on Alessio. Alessio scrambles to get Brooks back into the butterfly guard, Brooks gets back control on a tired Alessio. Brooks looks to soften up Alessio with a few strikes, Alessio scrambles again to get the fight standing again. Alessio then forces Brooks up against the cage wall, Brooks then drops Alessio with a pair of knee strikes. Brooks quickly moves to back control on a downed Alessio, Brooks attacks Alessio with knee strikes while they are on the ground. Brooks continues to attack Alessio as the round ends.

Fight Result: Will Brooks def. John Alessio by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-25)

Fight #3 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Rich Clementi (45-22-1) vs. Ricardo Tirloni (15-4-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Tirloni attacking Clementi with leg kicks, Tirloni trips after a head kick attempt and Clementi peppers him with a few lefts. Tirloni then cracks Clementi with a short left hook to the head, Clementi charges at Tirloni before cracking him with a left. Clementi follows that up by hitting a swinging Tirloni with a kick to the rib cage, Clementi also starts to attack Tirloni with leg kicks. Tirloni then hits an incoming Clementi with a counter left hook, Clementi barely nails Tirloni with an axe kick to the shoulder. Each fighter cracks the other at the same time with a left hook, Clementi charges at Tirloni while landing a few strikes as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Tirloni nailing a swinging Clementi with a knee strike to the midsection, the fighters start to exchange a few leg kicks. Tirloni then hits a kicking Clementi with a three punch combination, Tirloni follows that up by hitting Clementi with a counter left hook. Clementi recovers by hitting Tirloni with a right hook, Clementi looks for the takedown and Tirloni makes him pay with a left. Clementi leaps towards Tirloni while hitting him with a left, each fighter nails the other simultaneously with left hooks. Tirloni then hits Clementi with a two punch combination, Clementi scores a takedown on Tirloni as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Tirloni nailing Clementi with a short right, Clementi quickly goes back to attacking Tirloni with leg kicks. Tirloni attacks a swinging Clementi with a two punch combination, Clementi responds by hitting Tirloni with a spinning back fist. Tirloni hits Clementi with a front kick before engaging in the clinch, Tirloni scores a takedown on Clementi and he gets the full guard. Tirloni starts to attack Clementi with some ground and pound, Clementi tries to roll for the leg lock on Tirloni and it gets blocked. Clementi scrambles to get the fight standing one more time, Tirloni attacks Clementi with a variety of kicks as the round ends.

Fight Result: Ricardo Tirloni def. Rich Clementi by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)

Fight #4 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Marcus Davis (22-9-0) vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy (23-1-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Sarnavskiy attacking Davis with some leg kicks, Sarnavskiy then drops Davis with a right and he gets back control quickly on him. Sarnavskiy starts to attack Davis with a lot of ground and pound, Sarnavskiy locks in the rear naked choke and the tap out follows.

Fight Result: Alexander Sarnavskiy def. Marcus Davis by submission via rear naked choke (1:40, R1)

Main Event - Bellator Bantamweight Tournament Semi-Final Fight

Nick Kirk (10-2-0) vs. Joe Warren (8-3-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Kirk cracking a kicking Warren with a two punch combination, Warren nails Kirk with a right before eating a few more blows. Warren comes forward on Kirk before forcing him up against the cage wall, Warren hits Kirk with a knee strike before briefly going on the ground with him. Warren then hits a swinging Kirk with a jumping knee strike, Kirk then pops Warren with a few counter strikes. Warren hits a swinging Kirk with a knee strike before scoring the takedown, Warren starts to attack Kirk with some ground and pound. Kirk uses the wall walk to get the fight standing again, Kirk then hits Warren with a left after missing his first blow. Warren scores another takedown on Kirk and he gets the half guard, Warren goes back to attacking Kirk with some ground and pound as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Warren scoring a takedown on Kirk after eating a pair of strikes, Kirk tries to get the kimura on Warren and he fails. Warren starts to attack Kirk with some ground and pound, Warren transitions to side control and then the crucifix position on Kirk. Warren looks to get back control on Kirk and he nails Kirk with more strikes, Warren then locks in the arm bar and a tap out follows.
