The Bellator Heavyweight Championship will be defended at Bellator 109 as champion Alexander Volkov defends against Vitaly Minakov. Volkov will be making his first title defense for a belt he won by defeating Richard Hale in the season eight tournament finals. Minakov earned a title shot after he won the 2013 Bellator Summer Series Heavyweight Tournament, defeating Ryan Martinez in the finals. Bellator 109 takes place on November 22nd from the Sands Casino Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with the aforementioned fighters headlining.
