Following his controversial win over Mike Pierce at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 29, Rousimar Palhares has been cut by the UFC. At the event, Palhares locked Pierce in an ankle lock and forced a tap out rather quickly, but refused to release the hold until referee Keith Peterson dove on top of him. This is not the first time this has been done by Palhares, as a similar incident occurred at UFC 111 when he fought Tomasz Drwal and the New Jersey Athletic Commission suspended him for 90 days.
