We are inching ever closer to the first ever Bellator pay-per-view and the anticipation is building with each passing day. This weekend will feature one of the most loaded free cards that Bellator has ever put on, with a lot of big names spread throughout the event. The preliminary card could be the most stacked in the company’s history, with a tournament finalist and UFC veterans in action.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Mike Estus (5-0-0) competes against Cole Williams (6-1-0). Estus is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fight and he has spent his entire career in the Iowa Challenge promotion. Williams will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with his lone career loss coming to UFC veteran Eric Wisely. This is a great way to kick off the card, but it will be Williams ending the undefeated streak of Estus in this one.
A pair of featherweights are competing next as Derek Loffer (4-1-0) is in action against Cliff Wright (7-5-0). Loffer will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Wright has only won one of four under the Bellator banner, with that lone win coming over Bobby Reardanz at Bellator 75. Wright has not been doing too well thus far in Bellator and his woes will continue as Loffer picks up the win.
More welterweight action will be taking place next as Rod Montoya (15-15-0) battles Paul “Sassangle†Sass (13-2-0). Montoya will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and has not won a fight in well over a full year. Sass will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Danny Castillo at UFC On Fuel TV VII. It seems like Bellator is giving Sass a cupcake fight in his debut and it will be a fight that Sass will easily win.
Up next is a featherweight division action as Jared “Demon Eyes†Downing (9-3-0) faces Rob “The Saint†Emerson (12-10-0-1NC). Downing will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, which includes a loss to Patricio Freire at Bellator 97. Emerson has won three of four since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Nik Lentz at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 21. Emerson has improved since his time in the UFC, but not enough as Downing will get the biggest victory of his career.
Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Karl “Psycho†Amoussou (16-5-2) takes on Paul “The Gentleman†Bradley (20-5-0-1NC). Amoussou will be competing for the first time since losing a welterweight title fight to Ben Askren at Bellator 86. Bradley has won two of three fights since his UFC release, but he has not competed in a bout in over a year. This fight should have been part of the main card on Spike TV, but it will be Amoussou returning to the win column.
