A pair of title bouts will headline UFC 169 as featherweight champion Jose Aldo faces Ricardo Lamas and bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz faces interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao. Aldo has already defended the championship seven times, last defeating Chan Sung Jung by TKO at UFC 163. Lamas is currently undefeated in UFC competition, earning the title shot after defeating Erik Koch at UFC On Fox VI.
Cruz is returning to competition after being away for more than two years as he has been dealing with serious knee injuries. Barao successfully defended the interim championship twice, defeating both Michael McDonald and Eddie Wineland. UFC 169 takes place on February 1st from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey with Jose Aldo and Ricardo Lamas headlining.
