Current Bellator Fighting Championships Welterweight Champion Ben Askren has been granted his release by the promotion. During his tenure in Bellator, Askren defeated such notables as Ryan Thomas, Dan Hornbuckle, Lyman Good, Jay Hieron, Nick Thompson, Douglas Lima and Karl Amoussou. Now that he is officially gone from Bellator, Askren will be free to negotiate with any MMA promotion, such as the UFC or World Series Of Fighting.
