The vacant Maximum Fighting Championships Lightweight Title will get an owner at MFC 39 as Kurt Southern faces Tom Gallicchio for the vacated strap. Southern has won two of three in MFC competition, most notably defeating Mukai Maromo at MFC 37. Gallicchio will be making his MFC debut in this fight, but he is a longtime veteran of the M-1 Challenge promotion. Maximum Fighting Championships 39 takes place on January 17th from the Northlands Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with the aforementioned fighters headlining.
