Hunt vs. Bigfoot Preview, Plus Pettis and Pena Interviews on UFC TONIGHT
LOS ANGELES, CA – On this week’s UFC TONIGHT, Kenny Florian and Chael Sonnen preview the upcoming UFC FIGHT NIGHT: HUNT vs. BIGFOOT. Plus, Anthony Pettis, Julianna Pena and six-time Sprint Cup Champ Jimmie Johnson join the show for interviews. Plus Karyn Bryant and Ariel Helwani add reports.
UFC TONIGHT Insider Ariel Helwani on Jon Jones’ next title defense: “According to UFC president Dana White, Jon Jones will defend his light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira on March 15 at UFC 171 in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center.”
UFC TONIGHT Host Chael Sonnen on Hunt vs. Bigfoot: “These guys can do it all. It’s not a classic striker-versus-grappler fight.”
UFC TONIGHT Host Kenny Florian on Mark Hunt’s power: “He has the powerful left hook. Ask Stefan Struve, he breaks jaws with it. He’s that dangerous with it.”
Sonnen on Mark Hunt’s keys to victory: “He’s a devastating striker. He’s mainly a boxer. His keys are defending the takedown, attacking the body and he needs to land the power punches.”
Florian on Bigfoot Silva’s key’s to victory: “He has excellent striking, he’s tough and he has heart and a killer instinct. His keys are he needs to use his reach, use the wall and brawl, and he needs to take Hunt down. He’s excellent on the ground.”
Sonnen picks Bigfoot over Hunt: “I think Bigfoot Silva may be the third best heavyweight in the world, behind Cain and Junior. I like him in a landslide.”

UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis on how long he’ll be sidelined from the knee surgery: “The doctor said six to eight months. I’m hoping six months, so hopefully I’ll be back for a July fight.”
Pettis on who he’d like to fight when he comes back: “Nate Diaz has been talking so much. He looked pretty decent in his last fight. I hope he works his way up and we get to fight.”
Pettis on fighting Jose Aldo: “Aldo has his hands full with Ricardo Lamas. Hopefully Aldo comes out of that and we have a super fight. I want to fight one more time in the year and then maybe set up a super fight for the end of the year.”
Sonnen on Julianna Pena becoming the first woman Ultimate Fighter: “I don’t know what to make of Miss Pena. I don’t know if she’s a grappler or a boxer, but she may be the first true MMA fighter in the women’s division of the UFC. She has the ‘it’ factor.”
Florian on Pena’s edge: “She reminds me of Diego Sanchez, with her heart and determination and her focus. She would not be denied. She’s like a bull out there.”
Pena on fighting Ronda Rousey in her future: “I heard it could be a possibility. I’m looking to get some wins in and I will fight anyone they put in front of me.”
Pena on getting focused for a fight: “I focus on going to war and about getting punched in the face and someone ending my career. That puts me in a dark setting. I get really angry and go psycho a little bit actually.”
Pena on picks a winner between Rousey and Miesha Tate: “It’s going to be a great fight. I see Miesha having the edge this time because she knows what to expect.”

Helwani on Stefan Struve’s return: “There’s a lot of good news. He went to the doctor recently and he’s cleared to train at 80 percent. He’s meeting with a doctor again in January, and if he’s cleared he’ll start training at 100 percent. His goal is to return to the Octagon mid to late spring.”
Sonnen on who Michael Bisping should fight next: “I love when we can follow rankings. With Bisping, he’s sandwiched right between Jacare Souza at number three and Lyoto Machida at number five and I’d like to see him fight one of them.”
Sonnen on who Gray Maynard should fight after his loss to Nate Diaz: “Gray is in a tough spot. He needs a fresh coat of pain. The best way to do that is to switch weight classes and he could drop down to 145. How about fighting the winner between Nik Lentz and Chad Mendes?”
Florian on who Nate Diaz should fight next: “How about Diego Sanchez? There’s already history with the family. These guys don’t like each other.”
