CAGE WARRIORS 61 FULL CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 12/9/2013 5:58 PM

(Note: As of this writing, Cage Warriors officials have not dictated which fights are going to be part of the main card and/or preliminary card. With that being said, I am going to write a single preview for the entire event, instead of breaking it down the way I usually do.)

The final big weekend of MMA action prior to Christmas is upon us and it all begins with the Cage Warriors 61 card. The once canceled Cage Warriors 61 card is now back in the fold with a big main event pitting Bruno Carvalho against Matt Inman. Also, many other top Cage Warriors stars like James Brum, Jack Mason and many others will step inside the cage.

Kicking off the action is a welterweight division clash as Jarrah “Ziad” Al-Silawi (0-0-0) competes against James Burrows (2-0-0). Al-Silawi will be making his professional MMA debut in this event, but he did go undefeated as an amateur. Burrows will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he has yet to have a fight get to the first minute of the opening round. Al-Silawi has a bright future ahead of him as a fighter, but his career will get off to a bad start after Burrows blitzes through him.

A pair of featherweights will duke it out next as “Almighty” Arnold Allen (5-0-0) is in action against Doni “The Dragon” Miller (4-1-0). Allen has already fought twice under the Cage Warriors banner, defeating both Andy Greene and Declan Williams. Miller will make his Cage Warriors debut riding a three fight winning streak, but he has only fought once in the last two years. The lack of activity in the cage is going to hurt Miller in this one because it will be Allen remaining undefeated in the end.

Bantamweight fighters will step into the cage next as Spencer “The Hurt Locker” Hewitt (10-6-0) does battle against Paul Marin (6-3-0). Hewitt will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in well over a year. Marin has won one of three under the Cage Warriors banner, with that lone win coming over Shajidul Hague at Cage Warriors Fight Night IX. Neither fighter has been looking to spectacular as of late, but it will be Marin getting back on track with a victory.

We move to the lightweight division for the next fight as Julien Boussuge (9-3-0) will see action against Damien Brown (10-4-0). Boussuge will make his Cage Warriors debut riding a two fight winning streak and he has not suffered a loss in over two years. Brown has won four of his last five heading into his Cage Warriors debut and he has fought in the Legends Fighting Championships. These are two fighters who are on some good runs right now, but it will be Brown keeping his run going with another win.

More welterweight action is up next as Jake Bostwick (12-8-0-1NC) stands across the cage from Vincent “The Warrior” Del Guerra (20-9-0). Bostwick will make his promotion debut riding a five fight winning streak, which includes a pair of victories over Cage Warriors veteran Denniston Sutherland. Del Guerra is currently winless under the Cage Warriors banner, dropping a fight to Bola Omoyele at Cage Warriors 56. Bostwick is primed to have a great run in Cage Warriors and that run will begin with a victory over Del Guerra.

Our first light heavyweight bout of the event is next as Mohamed “Felx” Ali (8-5-0) has signed up to fight James Hurrell (6-3-0). Ali has won three of five fights in Cage Warriors thus far, last defeating Prince Aounallah at Cage Warriors Fight Night IX. Hurrell has won four of five headlining into his promotional debut and he is a longtime veteran of the Fight UK MMA promotion. Hurrell is an unheralded competitor headlining into his Cage Warriors debut, but more people will know who he is when he defeats Ali.

Another welterweight bout is up next as Jack “The Stone” Mason (25-12-0) takes on Seydina Seck (15-9-0-1NC). Mason has won four of his last five fights, with a notable victory coming over Matt Inman at Cage Warriors 52. Seck will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both of those fights ending in the opening round. Mason is a far superior fighter when compared to Seck and that will show when Mason pulls out another victory.

Up next is a bantamweight division attraction as James “Job Done” Brum (13-2-0) battles Marat Pekov (10-4-0). Brum will enter the fight riding a seven fight winning streak and his last loss came to UFC veteran Erik Perez over two years ago. Pekov is currently winless in Cage Warriors competition, dropping a fight to Ronnie Mann at Cage Warriors Fight Night IX. Brum is one of the best bantamweights in the world right now and he will show why with a win over Pekov.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division affair as Bruno “BC” Carvalho (15-7-0) faces Matt Inman (12-5-0). Carvalho has only won one of three under the Cage Warriors banner, with that lone win coming over Steven Dinsdale at Cage Warriors 52. Inman has won three in a row headlining into this main event fight, with all three wins coming in Cage Warriors. Inman is quickly rising to become a top welterweight in the promotion and that rise will continue when he defeats Carvalho in this one.
