BAMMA 14 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 12/11/2013 8:37 PM

The final big weekend prior to the Christmas season features another big event from the UK-based BAMMA promotion. This year end event from the promotion will be headlined by UFC veteran Paul Daley facing Romario Manoel Da Silva. Also, UFC veteran Colin Fletcher challenges for the BAMMA Lightweight Title and Bellator veteran Jim Wallhead competes.

Kicking off the action is a welterweight division bout as Florent Betorangal (14-8-0) competes against “Judo” Jim Wallhead (24-8-0). Betorangal has only won one of his last three fights, but that lone victory came over UFC veteran Carlos Eduardo Rocha. Wallhead has split both of his previous BAMMA fights, defeating UFC veteran Matt Veach and suffering a defeat to Eddy Ellis. Wallhead needs a victory to still remain viable in the MMA world and it is a win that the Bellator veteran will get.

A pair of middleweights will compete next as Max “Power” Nunes (11-1-0) will do battle against Ion Pascu (7-3-0). Nunes will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Jason Jones at BAMMA 13. Pascu will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a victory over Jack Marshman at BAMMA 13. Nunes is quickly becoming a highly touted prospect and will rebound from his first loss to defeat Pascu in this one.

Up next is a fight for the BAMMA Lightweight Title as champion Mansour “Tarzan” Barnaoui (10-2-0) defends against Colin “Freakshow” Fletcher (9-3-0). Barnaoui will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating UFC veteran Curt Warburton at BAMMA 13. Fletcher is currently undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Mike Ricci at UFC 158. Barnaoui is easily facing the biggest test of his professional MMA career, but he will be holding onto the title and passing the test.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division bout as Paul “Semtex” Daley (33-13-2) faces Romario Manoel “Junior Killer” Da Silva (23-11-1). Daley has won four of his last five fights, with a notable victory over Strikeforce veteran Rudy Bears at Bellator 72. Da Silva has won two of his last three fights, with none of those fights going past the second round of action. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest, but it will be Da Silva scoring the upset and defeating Daley.
