CAGE WARRIORS 63 FACEBOOK PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 12/30/2013 10:32 AM

Capping off another excellent year of professional MMA action will be another big card from the Cage Warriors promotion. The event will feature a four fight preliminary card that will be streaming live and free on the Cage Warriors Facebook page. The four fight card will feature a pair of female fights and a key lightweight division bout in the featured spot.

Kicking off the action is a women’s flyweight division bout as Amanda English (0-0-0) competes against Slavka Vitaly (2-0-0). English will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, but she did win one of two as an amateur. Vitaly will be making her Cage Warriors debut in this fight and will be returning to action after a yearlong layoff. Vitaly may have been the favorite if she had not been on a long layoff, but it will be English making a successful pro debut.

A pair of welterweights will be in action next as Kieran Davern (2-6-0) battles John “The Baby Faced Assassin” Redmond (4-7-0). Davern has only won one of his last five heading into his Cage Warriors debut, with that lone win coming over Martin Begley at a Euro Fight Night event. Redmond is currently winless in Cage Warriors competition, dropping a fight to Piotr Ptasinski at Cage Warriors 55. The fact that this fight is on the card is a black eye for the Cage Warriors promotion, but it will be Redmond getting the win either way.

Up next is a women’s atomweight division fight as Catherine Costigan (2-0-0) takes on Morgane Delagnau (0-0-0). Costigan has only fought one time in the last three years, defeating Vanessa Rico at a June 2013 East Coast Fight Factory event. Delagnau will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, with little amateur experience to speak of. Costigan may not be that active in recent times, but she has enough talent to defeat Delagnau and remain undefeated.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Sean “Sexy Curls” Carter (7-1-0) faces “Magic” Myles Price (8-4-0). Carter will be fighting for the first time since losing in the Cage Warriors Lightweight Title Tournament Finals to Steven Ray. Price has only won one of his last five fights, with that lone win coming over Kieran Davern at Battlezone FC X. Carter was a step away from becoming the Cage Warriors Lightweight Champion, but will get closer to a title shot with a victory over Price.
