UFC FIGHT NIGHT 34 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 1/2/2014 10:55 PM

The first MMA event of 2014 is upon us and it will be a historical one for the Ultimate Fighting Championships. That is because this will be the first event to be streamed live on the brand new UFC Fight Pass service. The preliminary card will be streamed along with the main card, with the prelims featuring a slew of top prospects in action.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division attraction as Russell Doane (12-3-0) competes against Leandro “Brodinho” Issa (11-3-0). Doane will be making his UFC debut in this event and he is the current Tachi Palace Fights Bantamweight Champion. Issa will also be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did win three of four fights under the One FC banner. Doane has all the makings of the next big bantamweight star for the UFC and he will show why as he defeats Issa in the opener.

More bantamweight action is next as Dustin “The Diamond” Kimura (10-1-0) does battle against Jon “The Heat” Delos Reyes (7-2-0). Kimura will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Mitch Gagnon at UFC 165. Reyes will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he will do so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Kimura suffered a heartbreaking defeat in his last fight, but he will get back on track by defeating Reyes in this one.

A pair of welterweights will clash next as Tae Hyun “Macho” Bang (16-7-0) is in action against Mairbek “Beckan” Taisumov (20-4-0). Bang will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he is a longtime veteran of the Japan based DEEP promotion. Taisumov will also be making his UFC debut in this fight and he does so while riding a three fight winning streak. Bang has had a rough time as of late heading into his UFC debut and that rough time will continue as Taisumov gets the win.

Another bantamweight division affair is up next as David “Scarecrow” Galera (5-0-0) battles Royston Wee (2-0-0). Galera will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has only had one of five career fights go past the first round. Wee will also be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has not competed in an MMA fight in over two years. Wee should be nowhere near the UFC at this stage in his career and he will be dominated by Galera in this one.

Up next is a lightweight division battle as Katsunori Kikuno (21-5-2) will be taking on Quinn Mulhern (18-3-0). Kikuno will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he has fought top names like Eddie Alvarez and Gesias Cavalcante. Mulhern is currently winless in UFC competition, dropping a fight to Rick Story at UFC 158 this past May. Kikuno is known as one of the better strikers to be competing on this card and he will show those skills when he defeats Mulhern.

Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division bout as Will “The Kill” Chope (19-5-0) faces Max “Blessed” Holloway (7-3-0). Chope will be making his UFC debut in this fight and will be doing so while on a fourteen fight winning streak. Holloway will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, dropping fights to Dennis Bermudez and Conor McGregor. Holloway was pegged as a breakout talent in the UFC a short time ago, but Chope will take that mantle know when he makes a successful UFC debut.
