Dominick Cruz has suffered a torn groin muscle and is off the UFC 169 card, where he was set to headline against interim champion Renan Barao in a title unification bout. UFC officials have also stripped Cruz of his UFC Bantamweight Title and now have crowned Barao the undisputed UFC Bantamweight Champion.
With Cruz being out of the fight, Urijah Faber will step in on short notice and fight Barao in the main event. The two originally fought at UFC 149, which is where Barao defeated Faber by decision to win the UFC Interim Bantamweight Title. UFC 169 takes place on February 1st from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey with the aforementioned fighters headlining.
