UFC CHANGES BONUS STRUCTURE

By David Tees on 2/11/2014 10:10 PM

Starting with this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 36 event, the UFC bonus structure will undergo a few new changes. The biggest change is that the “knockout of the night” and “submission of the night” bonuses will no longer exist, while the “fight of the night” bonus remains. Instead of the knockout and submission bonuses, the UFC will be replacing them with “performance of the night” bonuses that will still award $50,000 (or more) to those who receive them.

The new performance bonuses will allow UFC officials to award respective fighters bonuses without the glass ceilings of knockouts and submissions surrounding them. For example, if a card has all decision finishes, UFC officials will still award three or more bonuses, instead of just one because there were no knockouts or submissions.
