CAGE WARRIORS 65 UNTELEVISED PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 2/27/2014 7:09 AM

The Cage Warriors promotion started off 2014 with a strong Cage Warriors 64 card a few weeks back and now another top notch card is upon us. This particular event will be headlined by a welterweight division battle as UFC veteran John Maguire faces Saul Rogers. There are also two untelevised preliminary card bouts, featuring four top MMA prospects in action.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division bout as Gavin Kelly (4-1-0) will take on Neil Ward (0-0-0). Kelly will be looking to build off the momentum of his first Cage Warriors victory, which came over Dylan Sheehan at Cage Warriors 63. Ward will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, winning four of six fights as an amateur. Ward seems awfully outmatched in his pro MMA debut and it will be Kelly spoiling his professional debut.

Headlining this portion of the card is a middleweight division fight as Shane Gunfield (1-0-0) battles Konrad Iwanowski (2-0-0). Gunfield is returning to the cage after a near two year absence, last defeating Stuart Gooch at an October 2012 East Coast Fight Factory event. Iwanowski has previously competed under the Cage Warriors banner, defeating Sam Francis at Cage Warriors 55. This is a great way to end the untelevised preliminary card, but it will be Iwanowski ending the undefeated streak of Gunfield.
