ONE FC 14 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/10/2014 7:41 PM

While then MMA weekend will be concluding with UFC 171, it will begin with another stellar card from the One FC promotion. This coming Friday's event will be headlined by the crowning of a new welterweight champion when UFC veteran Brock Larson battles Nobutatsu Suzuki. There is a three fight preliminary card as well, with Strikeforce veteran Harris Sarmiento in the featured spot.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division attraction as Khim Dima (0-1-0-1NC) battles Saiful “The Vampire” Merican (2-1-0). Dima has spent his entire career in the One FC promotion and is coming off of a loss to Ruel Catalan at One FC 13. Merican will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, last defeating Tok Sophon at One FC 12. Merican has a lot of upward mobility in his career right now and he will continue to move up when he hands Dima another loss.

Up next is a women's strawweight division bout as Sherilyn Lim (1-0-0) takes on Ann “Athena” Osman (0-1-0). Lim made her professional MMA debut at One FC 11, defeating Ann Osman by a controversial split decision. Osman is currently winless in her professional MMA career, losing a controversial decision to Sherilyn Lim at One FC 11. The first fight's decision was a controversial one in many peoples eyes, but Lim will win the second bout as well and leave no doubt this time around.

Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division battle as Herbert “The Blaze” Burns (2-0-0) faces Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento (36-25-0). Burns made his One FC debut back at One FC 13, defeating Edward Kelly by opening round submission. Sarmiento is a Strikeforce veteran who has spent the last three years of his career in the Pacific Xtreme Combat promotion. Barring a huge upset from taking place, Sarmiento should coast through Burns to end his undefeated streak.
