CAGE WARRIORS 66 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/19/2014 12:48 PM

With the UFC holding their event on Sunday Night, that means that Saturday is reserved for the Cage Warriors Fighting Championships. The event will be headlined by a bout for the vacant Cage Warriors Welterweight Title as Sergei Churilov faces Nicolas Dalby. There is a six fight preliminary card as well, with a women's bout on the card and some top international prospects competing.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division attraction as Haci Firat Dogan (0-1-0) competes against Matthias Lodahl (1-0-0). Dogan made his professional MMA debut at an October 2013 Zone FC event, losing to Amin Afsan by unanimous decision. Lodahl is returning to action after being away for three years, but he did defeat Maxime Maizinger in his pro debut. Dogan may have the lesser of the records when compared to Lodahl, but he has been more active and that will carry him to his first pro victory.

A pair of bantamweights will collide next as Binh Son Le (2-0-0) is in action against Shamal Tashkilot (2-3-0). Le will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and both of his wins thus far in his career have come by decision. Tashkilot has won two of his last three bouts and he is a longtime veteran of the European MMA promotion. Tashkilot is the most experienced fighter that Le has fought, but Le will pull out the win to remain undefeated.

More lightweight division action will be happening next as Rioo Ibrahim (0-0-0) does battle against Alexander Jacobsen (0-0-0). Ibrahim will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he does have experience competing as an amateur. Jacobsen will also be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he also has some experience as an amateur. It is always a pick 'em situation with two fighters making their pro debuts, but it will be Jacobsen making a successful debut.

Women's bantamweight division action is up next as Emma “Heavy D” Delaney (0-1-0) battles Lina Akhtar Lansberg (1-1-0). Delaney made her professional MMA debut at Cage Warriors 62, which was a losing effort to Laura Howarth. Lansberg will be looking to build off the momentum of her first pro MMA victory, which came over LJ Adams at a Heroe's Fighting MMA event. These are two female competitors who have bright futures ahead of them, but it will be Lansberg making a successful Cage Warriors debut.

Up next is a welterweight division affair as Hakon Foss (2-2-0) stands across the cage from Per Franklin (6-3-0). Foss has rotated wins and losses throughout his professional MMA career and he is a veteran of the Ultimate Warriors Challenge promotion. Franklin has won two of his last three fights and this fight will be the competitors Cage Warriors debut bout. Franklin has been a lot more consistent when compared to Foss and that consistency will help him get the win.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division bout as Jussi Halonen (3-3-0) faces Frodi Hansen (7-6-0). Halonen will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in well over a year. Hansen will also enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has only fought once in the last three years. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Halonen getting the duke in the end.
