UFC FIGHT NIGHT 38 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/22/2014 10:03 PM

A rare Sunday show for the UFC comes to us this Sunday Night, but what a great main event the UFC is giving us on this night. That is due to the fact that Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua will lock horns once more inside of the octagon. Also, CB Dollaway faces Cezar Ferreira and a pair of TUF Champions will be competing against each other.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division battle as Rony Jason (13-4-0) competes against “Super” Steven Siler (23-11-0). Jason has won three of four fights under the UFC banner, with a notable win over Sam Sicilia at UFC 153. Siler has won two of his last three bouts heading into this one, but he is coming off of a loss to Dennis Bermudez at UFC Fights For The Troops III. These are two of the more unheralded competitors in the featherweight division right now, but it will be Siler getting more attention when he defeats Jason.

A pair of lightweights will clash next as Michel “Trator” Prazeres (17-1-0) does battle against Mairbek “Beckan” Taisumov (21-4-0). Prazeres has been undefeated as a lightweight in the UFC, having defeated Jesse Ronson at UFC 165. Taisumov is currently undefeated in UFC competition, with his win coming over Tae Hyun Bang at UFC Fight Night 34. Both of these fighters are getting a big opportunity with their position on the card and it will be Prazeres leaving with a win in the end.

Light heavyweight division action will be happening next as Fabio Maldonado (20-6-0) is in action against Gian Villante (11-4-0). Maldonado will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, last defeating Joey Beltran at UFC Fight Night 29. Villante will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Cody Donovan at UFC 167. Maldonado has seen a career resurrection in the last year and that resurrection will continue as he defeats Villante.

More lightweight division action is taking place next as “Stormin'” Norman Parke (19-2-0) battles Leonardo Santos (12-3-0). Parke has been undefeated thus far in his UFC run and he was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes. Santos is also undefeated under the UFC banner and he was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil II. This is a lot bigger fight than most people think going into it,but it will be Parke leaving with his fourth win in the UFC.

Up next is a middleweight division bout as CB “The Doberman” Dollaway (13-5-0) takes on Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira (7-2-0). Dollaway has won two of his last three in UFC competition, with a big win coming over Jason Miller at UFC 146. Ferreira is currently undefeated under the UFC banner and he was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil I. Ferreira has looked like a monster thus far in his UFC run and his past of destruction will continue when he defeats Dollaway in this one.

Headlining the card is a light heavyweight division affair as Dan “Hendo” Henderson (29-11-0) faces Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (22-8-0). Henderson won the initial meeting between the two fighters, but he enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak. Rua has won two of four fights since that loss to Henderson and this will be his first fight in Brazil in nearly three years. This is a must win situation if either fighter is to remain relevant in the UFC and it will be Rua getting the much needed win.
