UFC ON FOX 11 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 4/18/2014 7:48 AM

One of the bigger free cards since the UFC moved to Fox will be happening this Saturday Night with UFC On Fox 11. Headlining this card is a bout for a future UFC Heavyweight Title shot as Travis Browne faces Fabricio Werdum. Also, Tate battles Carmouche in a key women's fight and there is a huge lightweight division bout as well.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division attraction as Yoel “Soldier Of God” Romero (7-1-0) competes against Brad Tavares (12-1-0). Romero is currently undefeated in UFC competition, most notably defeating Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night 35. Tavares will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak, last defeating Lorenz Larkin at UFC Fight Night 35. The winner of this bout should break into the divisions top ten and it will be Tavares getting that honor with a victory.

A lightweight division contest is up next as Edson Barboza (13-1-0) battles Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (22-6-0-1NC). Barboza will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak and he has the most finishes via leg kicks in UFC history. Cerrone has won three of his last four under the UFC banner, last defeating Adriano Martins at UFC On Fox X. Cerrone has gone as far as he is going to go in the UFC and Barboza is clearly on the rise, Barboza gets the win.

Up next is a women's bantamweight division bout as Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche (9-4-0) takes on Miesha “Cupcake” Tate (13-5-0). Carmouche has won just one of three under the UFC banner and she competed in the first women's bout in UFC history. Tate is currently winless under the UFC banner and she was a coach on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 18 opposite Ronda Rousey. This is a must win fight if either women is to remain a viable contender in the UFC and it will be Tate out wrestling Carmouche to get the win.

Headlining this card is a heavyweight division bout as Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum (17-5-1) faces Travis “Hapa” Browne (16-1-1). Werdum has been undefeated in his second UFC run, last defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC On Fuel TV X. Browne will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Travis Browne at UFC 168. Browne is on the biggest roll of his career right now and that run will continue when he defeats Werdum to get the title shot.
