Pat Curran Defends Featherweight World Title Against Patricio Pitbull Friday, June 6th From WinStar World Casino Live On Spike
Featherweight Title Fight Opens Bellator Summer Series
Newport Beach, Calif. (April 18, 2014) – The Bellator Summer Series will start with a bang as Bellator Featherweight Champion Pat Curran will defend his title against featherweight tournament winner Patricio Pitbull Friday, June 6th from Winstar World Casino.
The event will broadcast live at 9 p.m. EST/ 8 p.m. CST on Spike TV. The preliminary card will be streamed live and free on Spike.com beginning at 7 p.m. EST/ 6 p.m. CST. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the WinStar World Casino Box Office.
This will be the second meeting between the World Champion and the top 10 featherweight, as Curran successfully defended his title against Pitbull at Bellator 85 with a split decision victory. Pitbull still feels he won the contest, and has no plans on letting his June 6th fight end up in the judges hands.
“I’ve been wanting this rematch with Curran for a long time, and it’s finally here,†Pitbull said. “I won that first fight, and I should be Bellator Featherweight Champion right now. This time, I’m not going to let it go to the judges. Curran has started to get cocky and he's disrespecting me. He has no idea what I've been through to get to the title. I’m going to put a brake on his tongue on June 6th.â€
The strong words from Pitbull are no surprise to Curran, who has exchanged verbal barbs with the Brazilian in the past. With certainty no love lost between the two, Curran is expecting fireworks on June 6th.
“Pitbull has been running his mouth a lot lately and everyone is sick of hearing it,†Curran said. “I'm ready to shut him up for good. I'm an even better fighter now than I was the first time we fought and I'll show you Pitbull a true champion fights on June 6th.â€
