CAGE WARRIORS 68 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/2/2014 1:36 PM

Cage Warriors is easily the top MMA promotion in the UK and it is quickly becoming a top promotion around the world as well. This weekends Cage Warriors 68 card will be headlined by Jim Wallhead's return to the company as he faces Danny Roberts. Also, UFC veteran Che Mills and Bellator veteran Ronnie Mann are both stepping into the cage at the event.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division attraction as John Cullen (17-8-2) competes against Dean Garnett (5-0-0). Cullen is currently winless in Cage Warriors competition, losing to Marat Pekov at Cage Warriors Fight Night X. Garnett will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this bot and he is a veteran of the Olympian MMA Challenge promotion. Cullen has a huge experience edge when compared to Garnett and that experience will carry him to a victory.

A middleweight division bout is happening next as Leeroy Barnes (12-13-0-1NC) does battle against “Beautiful” Che Mills (15-7-0-2NC). Barnes will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak, with one of those losses coming to Bellator veteran Norman Paraisy. Mills has been winless since his UFC release and the fighter has not won a bout in nearly two full years. Mills has been stumbling in recent years, but he will finally correct the ship as he defeats Barnes in this one.

The welterweight division will be featured next as Steven Dinsdale (6-1-0) is in action against Matt “Farmer Boy” Hallam (4-2-0). Dinsdale will be looking to build on the momentum of his first Cage Warriors win, which came over Dan Rushworth at Cage Warriors 57. Hallam will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this bout and he has yet to have a fight go to the judge's scorecard. Dinsdale looked impressive in his last Cage Warriors appearance and he will look good again when he defeats Hallam.

More welterweight action is next as Mauro “Xuxa” Chimento Jr. (15-10-0) battles Matt Inman (13-5-0). Chimento Jr. has only won one of two under the Cage Warriors banner, but that loss did come to UFC veteran Ben Alloway. Inman has won four of five fights under the Cage Warriors banner, last defeating Gregor Weibel at Cage Warriors 65. Inman is a few victories away from a welterweight title shot and he will get closer to one as h defeats Chimento Jr..

Up next is a featherweight division fight as Marcelo Costa (8-2-1) takes on Ronnie “Iron Mann” Mann (23-6-1). Costa will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and he has not lost a bout in over four years. Mann is a Bellator veteran who is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors, last defeating Marat Pekov at Cage Warriors Fight Night IX. Mann has been looking good since coming over to Cage Warriors and he will stay undefeated in the promotion as he defeats Costa in this one.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division bout as Danny “Hot Chocolate” Roberts (10-1-0) faces “Judo” Jim Wallhead (25-8-0). Roberts is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, most notably defeating Jack Mason at Cage Warriors 48. Wallhead is returning to Cage Warriors after a four year absence, but he fought in both Bellator and BAMMA prior to his return. It has been a longtime coming for Wallhead to return to Cage Warriors and it will be a successful return when he gets the duke.
