CAGE WARRIORS INCREASES PENALTY FOR MISSING WEIGHT

By David Tees on 5/9/2014 12:41 PM

Due to a rash of fighters missing weight in recent Cage Warriors events, the promotion has increased the fine for missing weight from 25% to 60% of the fighters purse. Currently, fighters in any weight class are given a one pound differential for weight, so if a lightweight fighter (155 pounds) were to weigh in at 156 pounds, they would be OK to fight. However, if that same fighter were to weigh in at 157 pounds or heavier, they will be fined 60% of their purse. According to Cage Warriors officials, 40% of that fine would go to the opponent of the fighter who missed weight and the remaining 20% will go to a charity of the opponents choice.
