BELLATOR 120 PAY-PER-VIEW PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/16/2014 11:45 AM

Despite a bunch of last second card changes, the historic first Bellator pay-per-view is set to take off of Saturday Night. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight tournament final as Quinton Jackson battle King Mo. Also, the interim lightweight title will be decided and Tito Ortiz returns to action after a very long absence.

Kicking off the action is a welterweight division bout as Michael “Venom” Page (5-0-0) competes against Ricky “The Sniper” Rainey (8-2-0). Page has fought once before under the Bellator banner, having defeated Ryan Sanders at Bellator 93. Rainey has won four of his last five bouts and the fighter is also undefeated thus far in Bellator competition. Page is a fighter that Bellator has a lot of high hopes for and Page will show everybody why when he defeats Rainey.

A heavyweight tournament final is next as Blagoi Ivanov (11-0-0-1NC) does battle against Alexander “Drago” Volkov (21-4-0). Ivanov earned his position in the tournament finals after defeating both Richard Hale and Lavar Johnson. Volkov was able to punch his ticket to the tournament finals with victories over Mark Holata and Mighty Mo. Ivanov has had such an incredible comeback after being near death a few years back and he will give the story a happy ending as he defeats Volkov to win the tournament.

Light heavyweight division action will be happening next as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz (16-11-1) battles Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko (50-7-0). Ortiz will be returning to action after a two year absence and he has only won one of his last eight bouts. Shlemenko is the current Bellator Middleweight Champion and this will be his first bout at light heavyweight in Bellator. Ortiz should not be entering the cage in any fashion and Shlemenko will handily defeat him in this one.

Up next is a bout for the vacant Bellator Interim Lightweight Title as “Ill” Will Brooks (13-1-0) takes on Michael Chandler (12-1-0). Brooks got this spot after an injury to Eddie Alvarez, but he did win the season nine lightweight tournament. Chandler is a former Bellator Lightweight Champion and he is looking to rebound from his first career defeat. Brooks has a very bright future in the sport, but this is Chandler's time and Chandler will be taking the gold home.

Headlining this card is a light heavyweight tournament final as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (34-11-0) faces Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (12-3-0-1NC). Jackson is undefeated in Bellator and he earned his spot in the tournament finals after beating Christian M'Pumbu at Bellator 110. Lawal is competing in his second tournament and he got to the finals of this one after defeating Mikhail Zayats at Bellator 110. This fight has been building for a very long time now, but it will be Jackson getting the win and earning a future title shot.
