There is a single MMA event this weekend and it is the first UFC pay-per-view of the summer season, UFC 173. The event will be headlined by a UFC Bantamweight Title bout as champion Renan Barao defends against TJ Dillashaw. There will be a trio of fights streaming on UFC Fight Pass, with lightweight striker Anthony Njokuani in the featured fight.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division bout as Jingliang “The Leech†Li (8-2-0) battles David Michaud (7-0-0). Li will be making his UFC debut in this bout, but he is a longtime veteran of the Legends Fighting Championships promotion. Michaud will also be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has only had one career fight go to the judge's scorecard. Li is a highly touted prospect coming out of China and he will show why when he makes a successful UFC debut by defeating Michaud.
Up next is a featherweight division attraction as Aaron Phillips (5-0-0) will take on Sam Sicilia (12-4-0). Phillips will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but the fighter is a veteran of the USA MMA promotion. Sicilia has only won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Godofredo Pepey at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs. Henderson. Sicilia has not looked to good thus far in the UFC, but he will rebound and get back on track as he defeats Phillips.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division bout as Anthony “The Assassin†Njokuani (16-7-0-1NC) faces Vinc “From Hell†Pichel (8-1-0). Njokuani has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with his last fight being a win over Roger Bowling at UFC On Fox VII. Pichel will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Garett Whiteley at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou. Njokuani has faced far better competition when compared to Pichel and that experience will get him the win.
