UFC ULTIMATE FIGHTER BRAZIL III FINALE MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/30/2014 11:17 AM

With two UFC events taking place on Saturday, it is good to know that the weekend will come to a close with the crowning of new TUF Brazil champions. The event will be headlined by a key heavyweight division bout as Stipe Miocic battles Fabio Maldonado. Also, two new TUF Brazil Champions will be crowned and Damien Maia will be looking to get a win in his home country.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division bout as Rony Jason (14-4-0) competes against Robbie “Problems” Peralta (17-4-0-1NC). Jason has won four of five fights under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Steven Siler at UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Shogun II. Peralta has won two of his last three in UFC competition, with his last fight being a win over Estevan Payan at UFC 168. Jason is quickly building himself into a top contender in the featherweight division and his ranking will rise when he defeats Peralta.

A welterweight division bout is up next as Damien Maia (18-6-0) does battle against Alexander “Bad Boy” Yakovlev (21-4-1). Maia will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in just over a full year. Yakovlev will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is coming off of a victory over UFC veteran Paul Daley. Maia has been fighting incredibly well despite the losses, but he will turn the corner and defeat Yakovlev to get back on track.

The UFC Ultimate Fight Brazil III Middleweight Finals is next as Warlley Alves (6-0-0) battles Marcio “Lyoto” Alexandre Jr. (12-0-0). Alves will be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he has spent the majority of his career in the Jungle Fight promotion. Alexandre Jr. will also be making his official UFC debut in this fight and only one of his fights went past the opening round. These were the two best prospects in the middleweight tournament, but it will be Alexandre Jr. winning the whole thing.

Up next is the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil III Heavyweight Finals as Antonio “Cara De Sapato” Carlos Jr. (3-0-0) takes on Vitor “Lex Luthor” Miranda (9-3-0). Carlos Jr. will be making his official UFC debut in this fight and none of his fights have gone past the opening round. Miranda will also be making his official UFC debut in this match, but he has previous fought UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado. Miranda has a huge experience advantage when compared to Carlos Jr. and that experience will carry him to a victory.

Headlining this card is a heavyweight division bout as Fabio “Caipira De Aco” Maldonado (21-6-0) faces Stipe Miocic (11-1-0). Maldonado will be making his UFC Heavyweight Division debut in this fight after going 4-3-0 as a light heavyweight in the UFC. Miocic has won five of six fights under the UFC banner, last defeating Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC On Fox X. Maldonado will be coming into this fight as an undersized heavyweight and that will hurt him as Miocic picks up the victory.
