CAGE WARRIORS 69 MAIN CARD #2 PREVIEW

By David Tees on 6/4/2014 5:20 PM

This coming Saturday will easily feature the biggest card ever in the long history of the Cage Warriors promotion. The second of two main cards will be headlined by a lightweight title bout as Stevie Ray faces UFC veteran Curt Warburton for the vacant strap. Also, two more UFC veterans will be competing and longtime Cage Warriors star Jack Mason will be in action as well.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division bout as Martin Delaney (8-0-0) competes against Damir “The Bosnian Bomber” Hadzovic (8-2-0). Delaney will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he is a former On Top MMA Lightweight Champion. Hadzovic is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, having defeated UFC veteran John Maguire at Cage Warriors 66. Hadzovic shocked the MMA world when he upset the UFC veteran and he will ride the momentum further as he spoils the promotional debut of Delaney.

A welterweight division attraction is next as Bruno “BC” Carvalho (15-8-0) does battle against Jack “The Stone” Mason (27-13-0). Carvalho has only won two of his last six fights and his last fight was a loss to Mohsen Bahari at Cage Warriors 66. Mason has won six of his last eight in his second Cage Warriors run, most notably defeating Matt Inman at Cage Warriors 52. Mason is quickly building himself into a title contender in the promotion and he will get closer to a title shot as he defeats Carvalho.

More welterweight division action is happening next as “Brutal” Jake Bostwick (14-8-0-1NC) is in action against Simeon “The Grin” Thoresen (17-4-1). Bostwick is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, last defeating Boubacar Balde at Cage Warriors 64. Thoresen will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to David Mitchell at UFC On Fox VI. Bostwick has seen a career resurgence in recent years, but that resurgence will come to a close at Thoresen picks up the victory.

Another welterweight division bout is taking place next as Ben “Benny Blanco” Alloway (13-5-0) battles Mohsen Bahari (7-1-0). Alloway is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, last defeating Jack Mason at Cage Warriors 65. Bahari has won three of four fights under the Cage Warriors banner, most notably defeating Bruno Carvalho at Cage Warriors 66. Alloway has looked very good thus far in his Cage Warriors run and that run will continue to be good as he defeats Bahari.

Up next is a welterweight division attraction as Jack “Hammer” Marshman (14-5-0) takes On Bola “Cashflow” Omoyele (7-2-0). Marshman is currently winless in Cage Warriors competition, having lost to Abu Azaitar at Cage Warriors Fight Night X. Omoyele has won one of two under the Cage Warriors banner, with that lone win coming over Vincent Del Guerra at Cage Warriors 56. Neither of these two fighters have lived up to their promise in Cage Warriors thus far, but it will be Marshman improving his status with a win.

Headlining this card is a bout for the vacant CWFC Lightweight Title as Stevie “Braveheart” Ray (14-5-0) faces Curt “The War” Warburton (13-4-0). Ray has won two of three under the Cage Warriors banner, but he is coming off of a loss to Ivan Buchinger at Cage Warriors 63. Warburton is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in Cage Warriors, having defeated Wesley Murch at Cage Warriors 62. Warburton is currently on the best run of his career right now and that run is going to continue as he leaves with the gold.
