BELLATOR 122 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/22/2014 9:27 PM

The final event for the 2014 Bellator Summer Series is taking place on Friday Night and it is a loaded card. The event is going to be headlined by a pair of tournament finals in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions. Also, Karo Parisyan battles Phil Baroni and a light heavyweight tournament semi-final bout is on tap.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight tournament semi-final bout as Liam McGeary (7-0-0) competes against Egidijus Valavicius (27-10-0). McGeary earned his position in the tournament semi-finals after defeating Mike Mucitelli at Bellator 118. Valavicius was able to call himself a tournament semifinalist after beating Carlos Eduardo at Bellator 121. McGeary is a fighter that Bellator has a lot of high hopes for and he will live up to those hopes as he defeats Valavicius to make it to the finals.

A pair of welterweights will collide next as “The New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni (15-17-0) battles Karo “The Heat” Parisyan (23-10-0-1NC). Baroni has only won one of his last five fights and this will be his first bout in North America in over two years. Parisyan has won just one of two fights under the Bellator banner, with that lone win coming over Ron Keslar at Bellator 116. These fighters are nowhere near the competitors that they once were, but Parisyan has a better upside and he will defeat Baroni.

Up next is the season ten welterweight tournament finals as Andrey “Spartan” Koreshkov (16-1-0) takes on Adam “Big Gunna” McDonough (11-0-0). Koreshkov punched his ticket to the tournament finals after defeating Nah-Shon Burrell & Justin Baesman. McDonough has found himself in the spot of a tournament finalist with wins coming over Jesse Juarez and Nathan Coy. Koreshkov has been very dominant thus far in the tournament and his domination will continue as he defeats McDonough.

Headlining this card is the season ten middleweight tournament finals as Brett “Fudoshin” Cooper (20-9-0) faces Brandon “Bull” Halsey (6-0-0). Cooper was able to call himself a tournament finalist after defeating Kendall Grove by knockout at Bellator 114. Halsey found himself in the finals of the tournament after defeating Joe Pacheco at Bellator 114. Cooper is easily one of the best fighters in Bellator right now and he will show why when he defeats Halsey to win the tournament.
