WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING 12 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/8/2014 10:27 AM

There is only a lone MMA event for fans to check out this weekend and that event is the World Series Of Fighting 12. The event is going to be headlined by a key lightweight division battle as Luis Palomino faces Lewis Gonzalez. Also, UFC veteran Ronny Markes makes his WSOF debut and Elvis Mutapcic battles Kelvin Tiller in a middleweight division clash.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division affair as Bryson Hansen (7-1-0) competes against Matt “Robo” Sayles (2-0-0). Hansen is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, having defeated Sean Cantor at the WSOF IX. Sayles will be making his WSOF debut in this bout and he has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Sayles is a vastly outmatched competitor when compared to Hansen and Hansen will defeat him to end his undefeated streak.

More bantamweight action is happening next as Brandon “Hot Rod” Hempleman (9-2-0) does battle against Alexis “The Exorcist” Vila (14-4-0). Hempleman is currently winless under the WSOF banner, having dropped a bout to Marlon Moraes at the WSOF IV. Vila will be looking to build on the momentum of his first WSOF win, which came over Sidemar Honorio at the WSOF VIII. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Vila getting the much needed win.

A pair of middleweights will collide next as Elvis “The King” Mutapcic (13-3-0) battles Kelvin “The Mama's Boy” Tiller (6-0-0). Mutapcic is currently winless in WSOF competition, but he is a former Maximum Fighting Championships Middleweight Champion. Tiller will be making his WSOF debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Bellator Fighting Championships. Mutapcic was once considered a future middleweight kingpin before his WSOF stumble, but he will rebound to end the undefeated streak of Tiller.

Up next is a middleweight division attraction as Cully “The Mason” Butterfield (13-3-0) takes on Ronny Markes (14-3-0). Butterfield will be making his WSOF debut in this bout, but he has defeated Bellator veteran Egidijus Valavicius. Markes will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Thiago Santos at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Henderson II. Butterfield is nowhere near the level of competitor that Markes is and Markes will breeze to an easy victory.

Headlining this card is a lightweight division bout as Luis “Baboon” Palomino (22-9-0) faces “Lethal”Lewis Gonzalez (9-0-0). Palomino is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, having defeated Jorge Patino at the WSOF VIII. Gonzalez is coming off of the biggest win of his career, as he defeated UFC veteran Antonio McKee at the WSOF IV. The winner of this bout is expected to get a WSOF Lightweight Title shot and it will be Palomino getting that shot.
