SAINT PREUX: “IN MY MIND I WON THE FIGHT. IT AIN’T GOING TO BE HARD.”

Plus, Bader, Rousey and Cormier Interviews on UFC TONIGHT

LOS ANGELES, CA – On UFC TONIGHT, guest host Brian Stann joins this week and helps Kenny Florian preview the upcoming UFC FIGHT NIGHT: BADER VS. SAINT PREUX and interview Ryan Bader and Ovince Saint Preux. They also interview Daniel Cormier about his postponed title fight with Jon Jones. Plus, Ariel Helwani and Karyn Bryant added reports.

UFC TONIGHT Guest Host Brian Stann on Ryan Bader vs. Ovince Saint Preux: “It’s an interesting situation to be in for Ryan Bader, who’s ranked in the top 10, fighting someone behind him in the ratings. It’s a big fight for him. He needs to win if he wants to get back in the title picture.”

UFC TONIGHT Host Kenny Florian on Bader’s improvements: “Everything is starting to come together for Bader, not only with his wrestling, which is looking sharp, but his striking has really improved and his ground and pound is some of the most brutal in the UFC.”

Stann on Saint Preux’s ability: “Athletically, the sky’s the limit for Saint Preux. He’s a fast learner. He had a hard time finding a gym where he’s not the best guy in it. When he does things that are wrong, he still succeeds because he’s that kind of an athlete.”

Ovince Saint Preux on if he’s feeling pressure being in his first main event: “No, I don’t feel added pressure. To be honest, I feel there’s more pressure on Bader than me. I’m a newcomer; he’s been around for a minute.”

Saint Preux on what he thinks about Bader: “I think he’s overrated. Nothing personal against Anthony Perosh, but I would have put him to sleep.”

Saint Preux on what a win over Bader will do for him: “It’ll move me up in the 205 rankings. I’m at least two fights away from the title and that’s what I’m shooting for. In my mind, I won the fight. It ain’t going to be easy, but it ain’t going to be hard.”

Ryan Bader on Saint Preux’s remarks: “Wow, he’s in for a rude awakening. He hasn’t fought people of my level. He hasn’t fought anyone in the top 10. I’m going to welcome him in that level and it’s going to be a bad night for him and a long night.”

Bader on who Saint Preux has fought: “He hasn’t really fought a wrestler. Mousasi took him down at will and Mousasi isn’t a known as a wrestler. I’m going to take him down and put my hands on him. I’ve been working on my power and with my wrestling pedigree. He hasn’t fought top 10 or top 15 guy for that matter.”

Bader on the key for his recent resurgence: “I’m the fighter I need to be and I’m the best fighter I’ve ever been. My mentality is great. I’m going to make my win streak three. I’m going to move on and fight the top five in the division and get that title shot and win that title. If you look at my losses, it’s been to champs and former champs, and Glover - all tough guys. I tried to kick box with them. I didn’t wrestle with them. Now I’m mixing my wrestling in and it works best for me.”

Stann picks Saint Preux to beat Bader: “This is a tough one, but I’m going with the underdog. He’s so special athletically. As long as he doesn’t let it become a wrestling match. If it goes to a decision, the odds are in Bader’s favor, but I think Ovince gets the knockout.”

Ronda Rousey on her recent knee surgery: “This is my fourth knee surgery, and my third knee scope. It’s going to be scary when I come back because I’ve been operating on one leg for several years now, and when I’m 100 percent, I feel sorry for people. No, I don’t ever feel sorry for people.”

Rousey on when she wants to fight again: “I’d love to be on the New Year’s card again. Everything that’s happened with Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, I’d love to share a card with them.”

Rousey on who she wants to fight: “Gina Carano was the first fight I ever saw. I’d love to measure myself against her. Also Holly Holm, and I’m excited for Cat Zingano. I’m looking forward to all of them. I’d love to fight Cyborg right now.”

UFC TONIGHT Insider Ariel Helwani on Alexander Gustafsson wanting to fight Jon Jones next: “Let’s just say that Alexander Gustafsson is not happy right now. I spoke to his manager and told me he’ll be ready to fight by January 3rd. He’ll do whatever he can to not get passed by and won’t accept any other fights before his chance at the title.”

Helwani on potential fights for UFC 180 in Mexico City: “I’m hearing of Dennis Bermudez versus Ricardo Lamas being targeted for Mexico City. Bermudez had a big win over Clay Guida recently. Lamas has been asking for this fight for a while and he’s wanted to fight in Mexico City. He says he hasn’t been asked for it yet, but he loves the idea of this fight. Also, Erik Perez wants to fight on this card, and he’s from Mexico so that makes sense.”

Daniel Cormier on his reaction to his title fight with Jon Jones getting postponed: “I was disappointed. I’ve worked hard already for this fight. I have great training partners coming in to help me prepare. It allows for me to have more time to prepare for this title fight, and allow my knee to heal some more. Now I’m going to ease myself into the training camp instead of jumping into it head first.”
