ONE FC 19 PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/25/2014 1:04 PM

The One FC promotion has been putting on some great shows in its brief existence, but One FC 19 is easily the biggest show in the promotions history. The event will be headlined by three title fights in the lightweight, welterweight and featherweight divisions. Also, UFC veterans Roger Huerta and James McSweeney compete and a pair of female MMA competitors will be in action.

Kicking off the action is a women's flyweight division bout as Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton (1-0-0) competes against Ann “Athena” Osman (0-1-0). Julaton made her professional MMA debut back at One FC 15, where she defeated Aya Saeid Saber by TKO. Osman made her professional MMA debut back at One FC 11 in May 2013, losing to Sherilyn Lim by decision. These are two women who are in the early stages of their careers, but it will be Julaton staying undefeated in the end.

A pair of flyweights are set to battle next as Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke (1-0-0) does battle against Ali Yaakub (0-0-0). Amnuaysirichoke made his professional MMA debut a short time ago at One FC 17, where he defeated Jomanz Omanz by TKO. Yaakub will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he has no amateur experience to speak of. Not much is known about either competitor, but Amnuaysirichoke at least has a fight on his record and that experience will keep him undefeated.

The lightweight division will be featured next as Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre (7-1-0) is in action against Mohammed Walid (3-0-0). Donayre will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Ultimate Reality Combat Championships promotion. Walid will also be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has only seen one career fight go to a decision. Walid may be undefeated entering the bout, but he will not be when it ends as Donayre will make a successful promotional debut.

We move to the featherweight division for the next bout as Herbert “The Blaze” Burns (3-0-0) dukes it out with Hiroshige “Hanzo” Tanaka (10-1-0). Burns is coming off of the biggest win of his pro MMA career, as he defeated longtime MMA veteran Harris Sarmiento at One FC 14. Tanaka will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he will do so while riding a seven fight winning streak. Burns is riding a big wave of momentum after defeating Sarmiento and he will ride that momentum to hand Tanaka a loss.

Light heavyweight division action is next as Cristiano Kaminishi (8-1-0-2NC) stands across the cage from James “The Hammer” McSweeney (13-11-0). Kaminishi will be making his One FC debut in this fight, but he is a longtime veteran of the Heat MMA promotion. McSweeney is a UFC veteran who has won seven of his last nine fights, last defeating Chris Lokteff at One FC 15. McSweeney has seen a career resurgence in the last few years and that resurgence will continue as he defeats Kaminishi.

More lightweight division action will be featured next as Christian “The Animal” Holley (10-0-0) will clash with Roger “El Matador” Huerta (21-7-1-1NC). Holley will be making his One FC debut in this fight, but he has seen eight of his ten career bouts end in the first round. Huerta is a UFC veteran who has only won just one of his last seven bouts and he has not won a bout in over four years. Huerta is nowhere near the competitor he once was and that will be seen by all as Holley dominates him to get the win.

Our first title bout of the card is next as Koji Oishi (25-9-10) defends the One FC Featherweight Title against Jadamba Narantungalag (9-3-0). Oishi will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Honorio Banario at One FC 13. Narantungalag is currently undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated Honorio Banario at One FC 16. Oishi has faced far better competition when compared to Narantungalag and that experience will keep the gold around his waist.

Up next is a One FC Welterweight Title bout as Nobutatsu Suzuki (11-1-2) defends against “Funky” Ben Askren (13-0-0). Suzuki will be making the first defense of his gold, which he won by defeating Brock Larson at One FC 14. Askren is a former Bellator Welterweight Champion and he is also undefeated in One FC competition. Askren is easily one of the best fighters in the world right now and he will add more gold to his collection when he defeats Suzuki.

Headlining this card is a One FC Lightweight Title bout as champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki (35-6-0-1NC) puts the gold on the line against Kamal “The Prince Of Persia” Shalorus (9-3-2). Aoki will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Kotetsu Boku by submission at One FC VIII. Shalorus is a UFC veteran who is currently undefeated in One FC, last defeating Ariel Sexton at One FC 14. Shalorus is several levels below Aoki in the skills department and that will become evident as Aoki keeps the belt.
