In what will likely go down as one of the biggest MMA news stories of the year, Renan Barao has been pulled from UFC 177 after passing out during a last minute weight cutting session. With Barao out of the event, UFC debutant Joe Soto will now be challenging champion TJ Dillashaw for the title. Soto, despite being a newcomer to UFC fans, is both a former Bellator Bantamweight Champion and Tachi Palace Fights Bantamweight Champion. Dillashaw will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Barao at UFC 173. UFC 177 takes place on August 30th from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California with TJ Dillashaw and Joe Soto headlining.
