UFC FIGHT NIGHT 50 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/3/2014 6:36 PM

The UFC does not tread lightly when they go head to head with Bellator MMA and that is proven with the card quality of UFC Fight Night 50. The event will be headlined by a huge middleweight division contest as Gegard Mousasi faces Ronaldo Souza. There are four fights on the preliminary card, with top prospect Al Iaquinta competing and Chas Skelly's second fight in less than two weeks.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division attraction as Chas “The Scrapper” Skelly (12-1-0) competes against Sean Soriano (8-1-0). Skelly will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Tom Niinimaki less than two weeks ago. Soriano is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Tatsuya Kawajiri at UFC Fight Night: Saffiedine vs. Lim. Skelly is coming off of a big win a little over a week ago and he will win again as he hands Soriano his second loss in the UFC.

A pair of bantamweights will collide next as Chris “The Real Deal” Williams (9-0-0) battles Tateki “Tech” Matsuda (10-5-0). Beal is coming off of a highlight reel knockout via flying knee strike over Patrick Williams at UFC 172. Matsuda will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the CES MMA promotion. Beal is riding a pretty big wave of momentum after his highlight reel knockout and his momentum will continue as he defeats Matsuda.

Up next is a middleweight division affair as Chris Camozzi (19-8-0) takes on Rafael “Sapo” Natal (17-6-1). Camozzi will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a bout in sixteen months. Natal will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak, with his last loss coming to Ed Herman at UFC Fight Night: Brown vs. Silva. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Camozzi using his wrestling to get the win.

Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division bout as Rodrigo Damm (12-7-0) faces Al Iaquinta (8-3-1). Damm has won two of his last three fights under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Mizuto Hirota at UFC On Fuel TV X. Iaquinta will be dropping to featherweight in this fight after a 3-2-0 run as a lightweight fighter in the UFC. Iaquinta has a far better upside to his career when compared to Damm at this point in time and that will be shown as Iaquinta gets the win.
