ONE FC 20 PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/8/2014 4:28 PM

This weekend will is historically huge one for MMA fans as there will be a total of six big MMA events happening this weekend. Things will kick off early Friday with One FC 20, which is being headlined by a bout to crown the first ever One FC Flyweight Champion. Also, there will be a four man featherweight tournament and UFC veteran Caros Fodor is in action.

Kicking off the action is a women's atomweight division bout as Vy Srey Chai (0-0-0) competes against Tharoth “Little Frog” Sam (1-0-0). Chai will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she has no amateur experience to speak of. Sam made her professional MMA debut earlier this year, having defeated Srey Moa Theoun at at a Bayon Khmer MMA event. Sam looked very good in her professional MMA debut earlier this year and she will continue to look good when she stays undefeated.

The featherweight division will be featured next as Meas Meu (1-0-0) is in action against Chan Heng (7-1-0). Meu made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at a CTN Promotions event, defeating Rin Saroth by unanimous decision. Heng has already competed six times this year, having won five of those six fights he has competed in. Heng has a huge experience advantage when compared to Meu and that past experience will get him the win.

More featherweight action is happening next as Jian Kai Chee (4-4-0) dukes it out with Amir Khan (0-0-0). Chee will be looking to build on the momentum of his first One FC win, which came over AJ Lias Mansor at One FC VII. Khan will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did go undefeated as an amateur. Khan has a great run during his time as an amateur and he will use that momentum to start of his pro career with a victory.

A pair of lightweights will collide next as Arnaud “The Game” Lepont (10-4-0) does battle against Suasday Chau (4-3-0). Lepont will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a bout in over two years. Chau has only won just one of his last three bouts, with that lone win coming over Johnny Mendez Walker at Nitro MMA X. Lepont was once considered to be one of the better prospects in One FC before his losing streak and his worries will continue as Chau upsets him for the win.

Our first featherweight tournament semi-final bout is next as Chan Rothana (1-0-0) clashes with Prak Chansin (4-4-0). Rothana made his pro debut earlier this year at Bayon Khmer MMA, defeating Chin Heng by submission. Chansin has only won just one of his last five fights, with that lone win coming over Vorn Savy at a CTN Promotions event. Chansin has a huge experience edge when compared to Rothana and that experience will help him advance to the finals.

Another featherweight tournament semi-final bout is next as Chin Heng (1-2-0) competes in the tourney against Chan Reach (0-0-0). Heng will enter the bout on a two fight losing streak and he has yet to have a fight go to the judge's scorecard. Reach will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he has no amateur experience to speak of. A fighter with a losing record won the last tournament and another fighter with a losing record will advance to the finals after Heng picks up the win.

Bantamweights will be stepping into the cage next as Ming Yen “Sam” Yung (3-1-0) battles Radeem Rahman (2-0-0). Sung is currently undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated Nick Lee by submission at One FC 18. Rahman has spent his entire career thus far in the One FC promotion, last defeating Raymond Tan at One FC 16. These are two of the better prospects in One FC right now, but it will be Rahman staying undefeated in the end.

Up next is a lightweight division attraction as “Magnivincent” Vincent Latoel (15-14-0) takes on Caros “The Future” Fodor (9-4-0). Latoel has won two of three fights under the One FC banner, most notably defeating Eddie Ng at One FC 16. Fodor has won two of three fights since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Sam Stout at UFC 157. Fodor has looked very good since his untimely UFC release and he will look good again as he picks up a win over Latoel.

Headlining this card is a bout for the vacant One FC Flyweight Title as Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio (6-2-0) faces Adriano “Black Diamond” Moraes (11-1-0). Eustaquio has won three of four fights under the One FC banner, most notably defeating Kentaro Watanabe at One FC 17. Moraes has won two of three fights during his One FC run, which includes a win over UFC veteran Yasuhiro Urushitani. This fight could be a late candidate for “fight of the year”, but it will be Moraes walking away with the gold.
