ONE FC 21 PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/13/2014 9:27 AM

There are a total of three MMA events coming to us this week and they will all be taking place throughout Friday. The trio of events will be kicking off with One Fighting Championships 21, which features Marat Gafurov and Rob Lisita in the main event. There are eight other fights on the card as well, with plenty of top international MMA prospects stepping into the cage.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division bout as Anatpong “Mak” Bunrad (3-1-0) competes against Marc Marcellinus (0-1-0). Bunrad will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has yet to see any of his fights go to the judge’s scorecards. Marcellinus made his professional MMA debut back at One FC 11, where he suffered a defeat to Stephen Langdown. Marcellinus is vastly outmatched when compared to Bunrad and it will be Bunrad making a successful promotional debut.

The flyweight division will be featured next as Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke (2-0-0) does battle against Saiful “The Vampire” Merican (3-1-0). Amnuaysirichoke has spent his entire professional MMA career in One FC and he has yet to see a bout go past the opening round. Merican has won two of three fights under the One FC banner, most notably defeating Khim Dima at One FC 14. These are two of the better flyweight prospects in One FC and it will be Merican ending the undefeated streak of Amnuaysirichoke.

A women’s flyweight division bout is next as Aya Saeid “Sheklesa” Saber (2-4-0) is in action against Ann “Athena” Osman (1-1-0). Saber is currently winless in One FC competition and she has only won just one of her last five bouts heading into this one. Osman will be looking to build on the momentum of her first pro MMA win, which came over Ana Julaton at One FC 19. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Osman getting the much needed win.

Our first welterweight division bout is next as Hesham Hiba (1-2-0) looks for the victory against Mohammad “Barbod The Unleashed” Sotounzadeh (1-0-0). Hiba has only competed one time in the last two years, which was a loss to Abdel Emam at Egyptian Fighting Championships 15. Sotounzadeh made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at One FC 17, defeating Zuli Silawanto by knockout. Sotounzadeh looked impressive in his professional MMA debut and he will look just as good the second time around when he defeats Hiba.

More bantamweight division action is next as Stephen Langdown (1-1-0) dukes it out with Raymond Tan (2-2-0). Langdown will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Casey Suire at One FC 16. Tan will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he has not achieved a victory in well over a full year. These are two fighters who are in a must win scenario and it will be Tan picking up the all-important victory.

Featherweights will be stepping into the cage next as Tanaphong “Lanna Warrior” Khunhankaew (5-3-0) clashes with Bashir “Somchai” Ahmad (2-1-0). Khunhankaew will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has previously competed against UFC veteran Will Chope. Ahmad will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Bruno Pucci at One FC 10. Pucci has been out of the game for a year now since suffering that defeat and the more active Khunhankaew will take advantage to get the win.

Another featherweight division bout is next as Edward “The Rock” Kelly (5-1-0) will be battling Ev Ting (7-2-0). Kelly is currently winless under the One FC banner, having dropped a fight to Herbert Burns at One FC 13. Ting is currently undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated Yohan Mulia Legowo by first round TKO. These are two of the better featherweights under the One FC banner and it will be Ting getting the big victory.

Up next is a lightweight division attraction as Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre (7-2-0) takes on Peter Davis (8-3-0). Donayre has already competed three times this year, but he has only won just one of those three fights. Davis has won five of six fights under the One FC banner and he will enter this bout riding a two fight winning streak. Davis is one of the better lightweights in One FC at this time and he will prove that again as he defeats Donayre.

Headlining this card is a featherweight division bout as Marat Gafurov (9-0-0) faces “Ruthless” Rob Lisita (14-6-0). Gafurov will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the M-1 Challenge promotion. Lisita has won four of his last five fights and he has previously competed against UFC veteran Ben Wall. This bout is an exceptional way to be capping off the event and it will be Gafurov staying undefeated in the end.
