INVICTA FC IX PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/31/2014 9:53 PM

Capping off another extraordinary weekend of MMA action will be the second offering of Invicta FC on UFC Fight Pass. The event will be headlined by an Invicta FC Flyweight Title bout as Barb Honchak defends against Takayo Hashi. Also, Mizuki Inoue faces Karolina Kowalkiewicz in the co-main event and Kaitlin Young looks to gets back to her winning ways.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division bout as Maegan “Mayhem” Goodwin (0-0-0) competes against “Killer” Kelly McGill (1-0-0). Goodwin will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she did go undefeated as an amateur. McGill made her pro MMA debut at Tachi Palace Fights 19, where she defeated Leslie Rodriguez by TKO. Goodwin has a huge amount of hype behind her heading into her pro debut and she will live up to that hype when she defeats McGill.

The strawweight division will be featured next as Jamie Moyle (0-0-0) does battle against Jenny Liou Shriver (2-0-0). Moyle will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she did fight TUF alumni Tecia Torres as an amateur. Shriver made her professional MMA debut earlier this year and she is a veteran of the King Of The Cage promotion. Shriver has looked dominant thus far in her MMA career and she will dominate again when she defeats Moyle.

A pair of flyweights will be colliding next as Andrea “KGB” Lee (1-0-0) is in action against Shannon Sinn (1-1-0). Lee made her professional MMA debut earlier this year at Global Fighting Alliance 27, defeating Kim Colbert in just ten seconds. Sinn will be looking to rebound from her first professional MMA defeat, which came to Alice Smith Yauger at Sparta Combat League 27. Lee had an absolutely amazing professional MMA debut and she will now have a spectacular Invicta FC debut as she defeats Sinn in this one.

Our first featherweight division bout is next as Amanda “The Lady Killer” Bell (2-2-0) dukes it out with Maria Hougaard Djursaa (5-5-0). Bell will enter the contest riding a two fight winning streak, but she is currently winless in Invicta FC competition. Djursaa has won three of her last four fights and that lone loss came to Bellator MMA veteran Annalisa Bucci. These are two females who are in a must win situation, but it will be the more experienced Djursaa leaving with the win.

Atomweight division action is happening next as Amber “The Bully” Brown (3-1-0) stands across the cage from “Lightning” Liz McCarthy (2-1-0). Brown will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she has yet to see a fight go to a decision. McCarthy has won one of two fights under the Invicta FC banner, with that lone win coming over Jessica Philippus at Invicta FC II. Brown has already competed in some of the better MMA promotions out there and she will use that experience to defeat McCarthy.

More atomweight division action is next as Nicdali “The Night Queen” Rivera-Calanoc (8-7-0) clashes with Jodie Esquibel (4-1-0). Rivera-Calanoc has just won just one of three fights in Invicta FC, with that lone win coming over Angelica Chavez at Invicta FC II. Esquibel has won two of three fights in Invicta FC competition, most notably defeating Jinh Yu Frey at Invicta FC VIII. Esquibel is quickly becoming a fighter to watch in the promotion and she will get the biggest win of her career when she defeats Rivera-Calanoc.

Another bantamweight division bout is next as Raquel “Rocky” Pa’aluhi (3-4-0) battles Kaitlin Young (7-8-1). Pa’aluhi has only won just one of her last four fights and she will be returning to the cage after being away for over a year. Young will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and she has not achieved a victory in over two years. These are two fighters who are in a desperate need of a victory and it will be Young notching that much needed win.

Up next is a strawweight division attraction as Mizuki Inoue (8-2-0) takes on Karolina Kowalkiewicz (5-0-0). Inoue is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated TUF alumni Bec Rawlings at Invicta FC VI. Kowalkiewicz will be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight and she is a longtime veteran of the Poland based KSW MMA promotion. These are two women who could find themselves in title contention quickly in Invicta FC and it will be Inoue getting closer to that title shot.

Headlining this card is an Invicta FC Flyweight Title bout as champion Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak (9-2-0) defends against Takayo Hashi (15-4-1). Honchak will be making the second defense of her championship, last defending it against UFC veteran Leslie Smith at Invicta FC VII. Hashi will be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight, but she has fought UFC veterans Cat Zingano, Sarah Kaufman and Roxanne Modaferri. Hashi is not the same fighter she was a few years back and Honchak is on the rise, which will be continuing as she holds onto the gold.
