Longtime UFC veteran and former WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner has announced his retirement from MMA competition, his record was 22-11-1-2NC. Varner won the WEC Lightweight Title back at WEC 32 when he defeated Rob McCullough, he would lose the title at WEC 46 to Ben Henderson. During his eleven year MMA career, Varner fought top names like Kyle Bradley, Hermes Franca, Rob McCullough, Donald Cerrone, Ben Henderson, Kamal Shalorus, Drew Fickett, Edson Barboza, Gleison Tibau, Abel Trujillo and James Krause. Varner’s last bout came this past weekend at UFC On Fox 13, where he suffered a submission defeat to Drew Dober.
