The men who headlined this past weekend’s UFC 183 event, Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz, have both failed drug tests. Silva, a former UFC Middleweight Champion, tested positive for drastanolone metabolites and the failed drug test came out of competition by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Diaz failed his drug test for marijuana metabolites, his test was a post-fight drug test issued by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Silva defeated Diaz by unanimous decision in a fight that was both competitors return to competition due to a leg injury (Silva) and a self-imposed rest (Diaz). The NSAC has yet to announce any repercussions for either fighter, but something should be announced in due time.
