LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 39 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 2/25/2015 4:21 PM

With three of the four MMA events this coming weekend happening on a Friday Night, it is easy to see why some of them could get lost in the shuffle. That would be a shame for the upcoming Legacy Fighting Championships 39 card, which features a middleweight title bout between Larry Crowe and Leonardo Leite. Also, UFC veteran Daniel Pineda competes and one time Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Title challenger Jan Finney returns to the cage.

Main Card

Main Event

Legacy FC Middleweight Title Fight

Leonardo Leite (5-0-0) (Champion) vs. Larry “Tae Kwan” Crowe (9-3-0)

Leite will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Myron Dennis at Legacy FC 35. Crowe will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Quentin Henry at Legacy FC 37. Prior to making his Legacy FC debut last September, Leite has primarily fought in his home country of Brazil. Crowe had already challenged for the gold once before, losing to UFC veteran Bubba Bush at Legacy FC 21. Crowe is known for finishing fights quickly, Leite will withstand the initial onslaught to submit Crowe in the third.

Co-Main Event

Legacy FC Featherweight Division Fight

Thomas Webb (8-2-0) vs. Daniel “The Pit” Pineda (19-11-0)

Webb has only won just one of his last three bouts, with that lone victory coming over Lanny Dardar at Gladiator Combat Championships VII. Pineda returned to Legacy FC at Legacy FC 37 after a three year run in the UFC, he defeated fellow UFC veteran Leonardo Garcia in his return. Webb will be returning to action after a ten-plus month absence and he has also fought Bellator MMA veteran Josh Quayhagen. Pineda went 3-4-0 during his three year run under the UFC banner and he was released after a loss to Robert Whiteford at UFC 171. Pineda is a former two division champion at Legacy FC, he will handily submit the overmatched Webb in the opening round.

Legacy FC Women’s Bantamweight Division Fight

Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko (3-1-0) vs. Jan “Cuddles” Finney (8-10-0)

Shevchenko will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and she has previously fought UFC veteran Liz Carmouche. Finney will be returning to action after a three year layoff, with her last fight being a loss to UFC veteran Holly Holm at a Clash In The Cage event. Finney has a lot of heart, but not much else to offer, Shevchenko finishes Finney with strikes in the first.

Legacy FC Welterweight Division Fight

Jonathan “The Hulk” Harris (9-4-0) vs. Mike “The Greek” Bronzoulis (16-8-1)

Harris will be looking to avenge a previous defeat to Bronzoulis, which came via first round TKO at a Legacy Promotions event. Bronzoulis has been undefeated since returning to Legacy FC and he was a finalist on the Bellator MMA Fight Master reality show. Bronzoulis always seems to shine when he faces overmatched competition and that is what Harris is, Bronzoulis grinds out a decision here.

Legacy FC Featherweight Division Fight

Kevin “The Angel Of Death” Aguilar (8-1-0) vs. Alex “Bet On” Black (8-3-0)

Aguilar will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to UFC veteran Leonard Garcia at Legacy FC 26. Black will enter the fight riding a seven fight winning streak, with three of those wins coming under the Legacy FC banner. Black has been tapping people out like crazy while on his winning streak and he will add another to the list as he submits Aguilar in the second.

Legacy FC Heavyweight Division Fight

Brice Ritani-Coe (3-2-0) vs. Dale “The Alpha Male” Mitchell (6-5-0)

Ritani-Coe will be returning to action after a three-plus year absence, last competing at Superior Cage Combat I in 2011. Mitchell will be making a return to action after a year-plus absence and he is a veteran of Bellator MMA competition. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest, which Mitchell will win via an early first round knockout finish.
