CES MMA 28 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 3/12/2015 6:47 PM

Prior to the huge UFC 185 pay-per-view on Saturday Night will be the third effort from the CES MMA promotion on AXS TV. The event will be headlined by a lightweight division bout as Bellator MMA veteran Rick Hawn faces Derek Loffer. Also, one time WSOF Lightweight Title challenger Richard Patishnock competes and another longtime Bellator MMA veteran in Mike Mucitelli fights as well.

Main Card

Main Event

CES MMA Lightweight Division Fight

Rick “Genghis” Hawn (19-4-0) vs. Derek “The Cedar Rapids Psycho” Loffer (9-2-0)

Hawn has been undefeated since exiting Bellator MMA in 2014, having defeated UFC veteran Carlo Prater at Titan FC 32. Loffer will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which includes a win over Bobby Reardanz at Bellator 112. Hawn had challenged for both the Bellator Lightweight and Welterweight Titles, coming up short on both occasions. Loffer is a fighter known for finishing fights, with all but one of his eleven career bouts going to the judge’s scorecards. Hawn is nearing the end of a fantastic MMA career, but he still has a lot of power in his hands and he uses that striking to knock out Loffer in the second.

Co-Main Event

CES MMA Lightweight Division Fight

Luis “Rockstar” Felix (12-8-0) vs. Richard Patishnock (6-2-0)

Felix is a longtime veteran of the CES MMA promotion, which includes a win over UFC veteran Drew Fickett at CES MMA 22. Patishnock will be competing for the first time since losing to WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje at the WSOF VIII. Felix will be fighting for the second time in under two months, last competing at CES MMA 27 in January 2015, defeating D’Juan Owens. Patishnock will be returning to action after a year’s absence, but he does hold victories over a pair of Gracie Family members. Felix has fought some big time MMA veterans already and his more well-rounded game will secure him a decision over Patishnock.

CES MMA Bantamweight Division Fight

Andre “The Asian Sensation” Soukhamthath (8-2-0) vs. Brian “Boom” Kelleher (11-7-0)

Soukhamthath has spent the majority of his career in the CES MMA promotion, which includes a win over Bellator MMA veteran Blair Tugman. Kelleher will be making his CES MMA debut in this fight and he has also won two of his last three bouts. Soukhamthath is a win or two away from getting a shot in a major MMA organization, Soukhamthath submits Kelleher in the third to continue his dominance over the CES MMA bantamweight division.

CES MMA Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Greg “Ribz” Rebello (17-6-0) vs. “Crazy” Mike Mucitelli (7-1-0)

Rebello has won two of his last three fights under the CES MMA banner and he also has fought UFC veteran Dan Cramer. Mucitelli is a Bellator MMA veteran who is returning to CES MMA after a four year absence, last defeating Steve Skrzat at CES MMA: Cage Of Horros. Mucitelli is good enough to compete in one of the bigger MMA organizations, Mucitelli submits Rebello in the first.

CES MMA Middleweight Division Fight

Todd “The Hulk” Chattelle (12-11-0) vs. Roger “The Leprechaun” Carroll (15-11-0)

Chattelle has only won just two of his last seven fights under the CES MMA banner and he has not earned a victory in well over a year. Carroll will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he once challenged XFC Lightweight Champion Scott Holtzman in 2013. This is a classic striker versus grappler encounter, but it will be the grappler in Carroll submitting Chattelle early in the first.

CES MMA Bantamweight Division Fight

Joey “War Machine” Gomez (5-0-0) vs. Kin “Kong” Moy (6-1-0)

Gomez will be making his CES MMA debut in this fight and he has yet to see any of his fights go past the opening round. Moy is currently undefeated in CES MMA competition, with his lone career loss coming to Steve Garcia at Bellator 126. This is a bout that deserves much more attention than it has received, but Gomez will edge out a decision in a slugfest to remain undefeated.
