MCGREGOR ON ALDO: “I CAN LOOK THROUGH HIS SOUL AND EAT IT. HE IS AFRAID.”

Aldo, McGregor, Rousey and Correia Interviews, Plus Weidman Guest Hosts on UFC TONIGHT

LOS ANGELES, CA – UFC TONIGHT hosts Florian and Cormier welcome UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman as a guest host and discuss his upcoming title bout. Karyn Bryant interviews featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor. Plus, Ariel Helwani adds reports.

UFC TONIGHT Host Kenny Florian on Aldo vs. McGregor: “Conor is really selling me. Style-wise, he’ll be the toughest Aldo’s ever faced. It’s an intriguing fight.”

UFC TONIGHT Guest Host Chris Weidman on if McGregor is disrespecting the champion: “He’s definitely disrespectful, but that’s what he does. I do believe some of the things he’s saying about the fight. He’s bigger, he moves forward and he has the confidence. He controls the range. This is the guy to beat Jose.”

Dana White if Aldo vs. McGregor is the biggest fight of the year: “I think this is the biggest fight of the year. When you have a fight where countries care about the fight, it’s a big deal. It’s a big enough deal that we’re doing this world tour. We’ve probably spent more money promoting it than any other fight ever.”

Jose Aldo on Conor McGregor: “Other fighters try to get the belt and they don’t. I don’t see him taking it from me.”

Aldo on if McGregor’s trash talking is bothering him: “I love when fighters talk like that. When he gets in the Octagon, he’ll fear me. He was raised seeing me as a champion. He’s never faced the champion.”

Conor McGregor on how he’s feeling going into the fight vs. Aldo: “I feel extremely comfortable. I love this business. I would not want to be anywhere else in the world. I will knock him out. I will use my size, my control of range, my fight IQ and my shot selection. When I hit you, it’s over. When he hits, they survive.”

McGregor on what he sees when he does the stare downs with Aldo: “I can look through his soul and eat it. He is afraid, make no mistake about it.”

McGregor on renaming the division: “It’s the McGregor division. Before I came along, the featherweight division fights were in the prelims, now guys in the top 15 are headlining the cards because me.”

Weidman on MMA getting legalized in New York: “There are two things I envisioned when I got into this sport. Winning the belt and fighting in Madison Square Garden.”

Weidman on if he’s frustrated by the delays with his title fight vs. Vitor Belfort: “No. I have these goals, things I’ve envisioned. I want to clear out my division and become the best of all time. I’m very motivated not to lose and to shut up the doubters.”

Weidman on how he keeps motivated for Belfort since the fight has been put off several times now: “I have a lot of respect for him. When you watch his fights, he’s a technician on his feet and on the ground. I’m going out to dominate him. His biggest thing is his stand up. I’m not afraid of him. I’m not sure how it’s going to finish, but I’m definitely going to finish him.”

Weidman on his coach Ray Longo saying he’s the greatest of all time: “He’s a very smart guy. It’s important to have coaches with high goals for you and to believe in you. When he believes in me, it gives me confidence to go and get it done.”

Ronda Rousey on what she expects from the Brazilian crowd: “I try not to have too many expectations. Brazilians are the most passionate crowds I’ve ever fought in front of. I feed off the energy. I’ve always done the best in Brazil. I promised I’d come back and I’m a woman of my word.”

Rousey on if she’s surprised by Correia’s trash talking: “I think it’s very intelligent of her. I’ve had a lot of fights where I have very little to work with. I like she’s trying to be an entertainer. If I feel somebody disrespects me, instead of bickering on Twitter, I’ll come to her backyard and beat her. I’ll win in the most exciting way possible.”

Bethe Correia on fighting for the title in Brazil: “It’s a dream come true. I always wanted to be a world champion and to do it in Brazil is a gift from god.”

Correia on how she’ll beat Rousey: “I trust my fighting style. She has her style and I have mine. She’s going to feel my punches and she’d going to go down.”

UFC TONIGHT Insider Ariel Helwani on Nick Diaz’s upcoming appeal: “According to his manager, Nick has retained a New York law firm to investigate his UFC 183 failed postfight drug test and represent him in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.”

Helwani on what Roy Nelson will do after his recent loss: “Roy’s wife told me he broke his right hand in the first round of his last fight. It doesn’t need surgery at this time. He wants to fight Josh Barnett next.”

Helwani on Henry Cejudo fighting in Mexico next: “I’m hearing that Henry Cejudo will fight Chico Camus in Mexico, but the UFC hasn’t made it official.”

Helwani on Cristiane Cyborg Justino signing with the UFC: “According to Dana White, she signed two months ago, but the deal is: she needs to make 135 pounds in Invicta before she gets to fight in UFC. Next she’ll fight in July at 145, then will fight at 135 before entering the UFC.”
