BELLATOR 136 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

There is a huge MMA weekend ahead of this with the UFC, Bellator MMA, World Series Of Fighting and Resurrection Fighting Alliance all putting on shows. Everything kicks off with Bellator 136, which features Will Brooks defending the lightweight title against Dave Jansen. Also, Joe Schilling faces Rafael Carvalho and Marcin Held looks for a road back to getting a lightweight title shot.

Main Event

Bellator MMA Lightweight Title Fight

“Ill” Will Brooks (15-1-0) (Champion) vs. Dave “The Fugitive” Jansen (20-2-0)

Brooks will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Michael Chandler at Bellator 131. Jansen earned the title shot after winning the final tournament in Bellator MMA history, defeating Marcin Held in the finals. Brooks will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in well over two years. Jansen competed in a bout after winning the previously mentioned tournament, which was win over Rick Hawn at Bellator 130. Brooks is better at every aspect of MMA that Jansen excels in, Brooks keeps his title using his wrestling game to get a decision.

Co-Main Event

Bellator MMA Welterweight Division Fight

Rafael “Jacare” Carvalho (12-11-1) vs. Joe “Stitch ‘Em Up” Schilling (2-3-0)

Carvalho has only won just two of his last ten fights and this fight will mark his promotional and North American MMA debut. Schilling is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition, having defeated Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 131. Carvalho is a longtime veteran of the Iron Man Vale Tudo promotion and he has not earned a victory in nearly two years. Schilling may not have the most decorated MMA record, but he has had a great career as a pro kickboxer. Schilling is easily one of the best strikers in all of Bellator MMA and he knocks out Carvalho early in the first round.

Bellator MMA Lightweight Division Fight

Marcin Held (20-3-0) vs. Alexander “Tiger” Sarnavskiy (30-2-0)

Held will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak and he has won two previous Bellator MMA tournaments. Sarnavskiy will be returning to Bellator MMA for the first time in 2015 and he holds a victory over UFC veteran Marcus Davis at Bellator 101. This will be the best fight on the card, but it will be Sarnavskiy using his range to keep Held at bay to get the decision.

Bellator MMA Heavyweight Division Fight

Tony Johnson (8-2-0) vs. Alexander “Drago” Volkov (24-4-0)

Johnson will be returning to Bellator MMA after a three-plus year absence, his last promotional bout was a win over UFC veteran Derrick Lewis at Bellator 46. Volkov will enter the bout riding a five fight winning streak and he is a former Bellator MMA Heavyweight Champion. Volkov is one of the most dangerous strikers at heavyweight and he knocks out Johnson early in the second round.
