UFC FIGHT NIGHT 64 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 4/10/2015 10:09 AM

Capping off a busy weekend of MMA action that features a total of four MMA events will be UFC Fight Night 64 in Poland. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight division rematch as Gabriel Gonzaga again battles Mirko Cro Cop. Also, Jimi Manuwa returns to the octagon and Joanne Calderwood looks to get closer to a strawweight title shot.

Main Card

Main Event

UFC Heavyweight Division Fight

Mirko Cro Cop (30-11-2-1NC) vs. Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga (16-9-0)

Cro Cop is returning to the UFC for the first time in nearly four years, amassing a total record of 4-6-0 in his three runs in the promotion. Gonzaga already holds a victory over Cro Cop, which came via highlight reel head kick at UFC 70 in April 2007. Cro Cop has won three of four fights since his last UFC appearance, which includes a pair of wins over Satoshi Ishii. Gonzaga is currently in his second UFC run himself and he enters this fight on a two fight losing streak that has lasted just over a year. Neither fighters is going to be a title contender anymore, but Gonzaga still has a dangerous ground game and he submits Cro Cop in the first to get the much needed win.

Co-Main Event

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Jan Blachowicz (18-3-0) vs. Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa (14-1-0)

Blachowicz is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Ilir Latifi by TKO at UFC Fight Night: Story vs. Nelson. Manuwa will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa. Prior to coming to the UFC in October 2014, Blachowicz already defeated UFC veterans Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Goran Reljic and Houston Alexander. Manuwa holds an interesting honor in the UFC and that is that all three of his wins in the promotion came via his opponents getting injured during the fight. Blachowicz key to victory is getting the fight to the ground and Manuwa is great at avoiding the ground, Manuwa will use his range to get a close decision over Blachowicz.

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Pawel “Plastinho” Pawlak (10-1-0) vs. Sheldon Westcott (8-2-1)

Pawlak is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Peter Sobotta at UFC Fight Night: Munoz vs. Mousasi. Westcott is another fighter who is winless thus far in UFC competition, with his loss coming to Elias Theodorou at the UFC Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale. Pawlak has got a decent striking game and that will be enough to notch him a decision and a home country victory.

UFC Women’s Strawweight Division Fight

Joanne “Jojo” Calderwood (9-0-0) vs. Maryna “The Iron Women” Moroz (5-0-0)

Calderwood has already earned a victory under the UFC banner, having defeated Seo Hee Ham at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Moroz will be making her UFC debut in this fight and she has only seen one of her professional MMA fights go past the opening round. Calderwood is a legit contender in the division and she uses her striking to TKO Moroz in the first to get that title shot.
