UFC ON FOX 15 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 4/17/2015 10:10 PM

There is just a single MMA event taking place this weekend and that event is the loaded UFC On Fox 15 event. The event will be headlined by a huge middleweight division bout as Lyoto Machida faces Luke Rockhold. Also, Ronaldo Souza faces Chris Camozzi in a rematch and two of the UFC hottest women battle in the octagon.

Main Card

Main Event

UFC Middleweight Division Fight

Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (22-5-0) vs. Luke Rockhold (13-2-0)

Machida has won three of four fights since dropping to middleweight, with that lone loss coming to current UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman. Rockhold will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Michael Bisping and UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping. Machida previously competed at light heavyweight, where he captured the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Rockhold has also been a champion in the past, as he was the final Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. This fight is so close to call that picking a winner is nearly impossible, but I see Rockhold overwhelming Machida with strikes for a late round stoppage.

Co-Main Event

UFC Middleweight Division Fight

Chris Camozzi (20-9-0) vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (21-3-0-1NC)

Camozzi will be starting his second stint in the UFC, getting released the first time after a 7-6-0 record during his initial UFC run. Souza is currently undefeated under the UFC banner and he is a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. Camozzi has been undefeated in between UFC runs, having defeated Jeremy Kimball at Fight To Win MMA VII. Souza has already defeated Camozzi once, which was Souza’s UFC debut at UFC On FX VIII, the fight ended via submission. Whether or not Camozzi is a last second replacement has no bearing here as Souza easily submits him in the first.

UFC Featherweight Division Fight

Max “Blessed” Holloway (12-3-0) vs. Cub Swanson (21-6-0)

Holloway will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in just about two years. Swanson has won six of his last seven fights under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Dustin Poirier at UFC On Fuel TV VII. This fight will easily be the fight of the night, it will be Holloway squeaking by with a close decision in a slugfest.

UFC Women’s Strawweight Division Fight

Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig (10-5-0) vs. Paige “12 Gauge” VanZant (4-1-0)

Herrig is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Lisa Ellis at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. VanZant is another fighter who is undefeated in UFC competition and her lone career loss came to fellow UFC veteran Tecia Torres. Herrig has a huge experience advantage in this fight, she uses her striking skills to keep VanZant at bay to earn a decision.

Jim Miller over Beneil Dariush

Ovince St. Preux over Patrick Cummins

Gian Villante over Corey Anderson

Takeya Mizugaki over Aljamain Sterling

Tim Means over George Sullivan

Diego Brandao over Jimy Hettes
